Morass, through and through

'The State of the Union is Not Good' speaks for itself; I mean the American climate is just grim. Inflation, energy crisis, the spectres of Vietnam and Watergate lingering; and these dark clouds serve to tank three different presidencies (Carter just couldn't catch a break). What all of this is really about is setting the stage for Ronald Reagan's optimistic surges. This has been my least favorite episode because it's such a downer. I realize that that sounds superficial, but man, those were rough times. One thing I did like was the addition of Jessica Savitch to the cast of news anchors. She's one of my favorites, and it's nice to see more variety in that department.
