Storyline

Milus's military search party tracks down Pierce Gavestone over the Welsh border in an English fortified monastery and manages to seize it with him and his protector, English Lord Pembroke. Wilkin's torturer skills are used -or so it appears- on the earl's mistress to force him into legalizing the seizure of the former royal favorite in writing while Milus takes humiliating revenge on the haughty 'Frenchman', whom the barons want executed on the spot. The baroness discretely captures Maddox's widow and works out a deal spearing the kids and her. Lucas however has been kidnapped with father Ruskin as the archdeacon wants leverage to make him betray the location of the healer and Templar to eradicate the heretical Seraphin gospel which could overthrew the church.
