They Call Him Bombadore (2015)
**** (out of 4)
Highly entertaining interview with special effects legend Gino DeRossi who discusses his work on Umberto Lenzi's notorious CANNIBAL FEROX. At first DeRossi discusses why action movies are his favorite and he talks about the various responsibilities he has when setting up explosive scenes. From here he talks about Lenzi asking him to do CANNIBAL FEROX and then we go into the making of the picture. DeRossi talks about how he really didn't have too many supplies to work with so when Lenzi asked him about the "hooks" scene he really wasn't sure he could pull it off. The fans of the film will love that DeRossi pretty much breaks down how the scene was pulled off and he even shows us the hooks that were originally used. DeRossi also talks about a few of the other effects as well as the real animal deaths, which he too says he was forced to do. Fans of CANNIBAL FEROX are going to love hearing these stories as he goes into great detail and really gives you a great idea of what it was like behind-the-scenes and working with very little money out in the middle of nowhere.
