In April 1980, armed gunmen stormed the Iranian Embassy in Princes Gate, London and took all inside hostage. Over the next six days a tense standoff took place, all the while a group of highly trained soldiers from the SAS prepared for a raid the world had never seen.

The SAS used only 30 to 35 soldiers in the raid, but they estimate that more than 10,000 people claim to have taken part. See more
The embassy was taken on the 30th April 1980. When the terrorists first enter there is a Nissan Cherry parked outside (TNN 998W) - however W regs were not issued until 1st August 1980. See more
