There are several incidents throughout the film that are homage to films directed or produced by Steven Spielberg:
The cinema hall's poster shows the Spielberg-produced Gremlins.
The overalls that Charlie wears during her speech about her late father has the initials BFG, referring to Spielberg's film The B.F.G.
Memo's room has a poster of Raiders of The Lost Ark.
The tunnel where the police patrol car chases after Bumblebee, Charlie and Memo is the same tunnel used in the climax of Back To The Future: Part II and the entrance to Toon Town in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
The rear mirror of a car has at the end has the words "objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear" were taken verbatim from Jurassic Park.
I'm sorry but clearly these have to be biased reviews because that movie got all the hype and it felt like I was watching a straight to dvd movie. Bad acting, except Steinfeld, maybe 15 min of total action, lame and corny jokes. Maybe with the exception of maybe 20 min, the story line was so out of sync and no flow. I was excited to watch this and it left me in utter dissapointment. A movie probably great for preteens, but it was the corniest and worst "blockbuster" I have watched in 2018 that was hyped. Terrible. Best part of the movie was the first 10 min.
