Based on the true story, Good Girls Revolt follows the lives of women working in fictional "News of the Week" newsroom (based on Newsweek magazine) as "researchers" under a group of male reporters. The story focuses on the lead up to their battle for equal rights in the workplace, notably their right to be reporters.
Watching the pilot, it was interesting to take a look at a part of history that you may remember all too well. Women will find the show's theme to be familiar. Many of us lived through scenes much like the ones we see the characters going through here. Viewers of a certain age will reflect that even though things have changed on some levels, there are many ways in which women's advances are really not what one might have hoped for having seen or lived through the changes of the 70's. Good Girls Revolt offers a refreshing look at women who stirred things up and stood up to the status quo with creativity, integrity and resolve despite the odds stacked against them. Nice job on the pilot - good acting by a great ensemble cast - now let's hope Amazon commits to the show and follows these characters through the transformations that the pilot hints at.
