Mac and Joni got back together after recent events and reconnected. Joni again proves shows her resourcefulness as she goes to babysit for Ruth but uses it as an opportunity to rifle through Arthur's things to look for that hidden money.
After a bus carrying Ruth's son to school is attacked by racists and one of his friends beaten senseless, there is a lot of racial tension and the drama highlights that even in the 1970s, integration was a problems with some.
The Broker takes Mac out for a drive through some dark backwater roads, Mac is understandably nervous but maybe he is just pushing his buttons. Mac just wants him to show him a good time which means getting into a fight in a poker game and then telling Mac to kill a large, vulgar fat man.
The episode was in many ways low key. The cowards taking on defenceless kids on the bus showed the shallow cowardice of the racists, but this one was all about the Broker playing Mac like a harp from hell.
