At the climax of the last episode when Buddy got shot, he said he had someone who would take care of it. It turns out to be his mum. Buddy is one of the interesting characters in his drama but in amongst the botched jobs he gets involved in he lives an empty life.
Mac probably wishes his life was empty. He is just getting in deeper and deeper. Detective Olsen has Mac in his sights but one legged Suggs has kidnapped Joni and demands $20k. A figure the Broker is willing to lend to Mac and thus put him in deeper in debt to him.
However Joni is a resourceful woman with Suggs giving her lusty looks she manages to escape from her captor but is not ready to fall into Mac's arms.
The dude who broke into Arthur's wife's house looking for $30k was sent by the Broker. So not only does he want Mac to pay off the debt, he has sent a goon round to look for the money.
The series is still a slow burner but it is cooking away nicely with interesting small scale characters but the lead still underwhelms.
