A day before the Sundance Film Festival begins, Netflix acquired the global rights to the Midnight thriller “His House,” an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.
Remi Weekes wrote and directed the film that is set to premiere on Monday in the Midnight section. Weekes wrote the script with Felicity Evans and Toby Venables.
The film stars Wunmi Mosaku (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”) and Sope Dirisu (“The Huntsman: Winter’s War”). It follows a young refugee couple that escapes Sudan and tries to adjust to their new life in a small English town. Soon, however, an evil force starts to surface.

We thought “Game of Thrones” might be an unstoppable Emmy juggernaut for its final season, and it was … sort of. At the Creative Arts Awards on September 15, the show won 10 prizes. But when the rest of the kudos were handed out during the telecast on September 22, its domination was relatively mild. It did in fact win Best Drama Series, but it claimed only one other award: Best Drama Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage. Check out the complete list of Emmy winners here, and scroll down for the complete list of “Thrones” victories in its entire history.
SEEHere are the 4 Emmy records ‘Game of Thrones’ just set with its final season
Those two victories for “Thrones” brought its total awards for the year to 12, which tied its own record for the most wins for a continuing series in a single year. It also claimed 12 prizes in both 2015 and 2016. That brought its...

We thought there might be a “Game of Thrones” bloodbath at the 2019 Creative Arts Emmys, and that’s what we got, though it wasn’t a clean sweep. On Sunday night, September 15, the HBO epic fantasy series won 10 awards. That brings its all-time total to 57 wins, with more categories to come during the main Emmys telecast next Sunday night, September 22. That’s more awards than any narrative series has ever won at the Emmys. The only series it trails in any genre is the sketch comedy “Saturday Night Live,” which has had the benefit of 44 years on the air. Scroll down to see everything “Thrones” has won so far.
On Sunday night, “Thrones” won awards for its casting, costumes, main title design, makeup (non-prosthetic), music composition, picture editing, sound editing, sound mixing, stunt coordination, and visual effects. Five of those awards were for “The Long Night,” the epic battle episode...

Arya Stark is all grown up. Over the course of eight seasons of Game of Thrones, the younger Stark daughter has gone from tomboy tween to teenage assassin to a savvy, tough young woman. She takes another big adult step in the second episode of the final season, when she sleeps with her old friend and crush Gendry on the eve of the battle against the White Walkers at Winterfell. During their love scene, Gendry's gaze - and the camera - focuses on the scars on Arya's torso. They're a sharp reminder of just how much she's been through over the years.
The most visible, largest scars on Arya's side and abdomen come from Arya's own near brush with death. Back in season six, Arya was in the midst of her Faceless Man storyline, training to be an assassin and learning to push every bit of her true identity...

(Disclaimer: TheWrap has not included any spoilers for the “Game of Thrones” Season 8 premiere in this post and will hold all episodic coverage until after the show airs in its scheduled 9 p.m. Et slot on HBO)
The eighth and final season premiere of “Game of Thrones” was available on DirecTV Now four hours ahead of its scheduled 9 p.m. Et airing Sunday on HBO. And fans on social media were, understandably, unhappy about winter coming earlier than they expected.
Subscribers to the service, which is owned by At&T — the company that acquired HBO’s parent, WarnerMedia, in a merger last year — started tweeting about the “GoT” Season 8 premiere’s surprise drop around 5 p.m. Et.
DirecTV Now customers were able to view the entirety of the first episode which has a runtime of approximately an hour and five minutes, including previews. The premiere’s title was not revealed via the service,...

Winter is finally here. Tomorrow brings the premiere of the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” after a nearly two-year hiatus that left fans clamoring to finally learn who lives, who dies, and how it all ends.
Ahead of the final six episodes, Rotten Tomatoes crunched the numbers and looked back at the previous 67 to see which received the warmest reception from critics. Notably, only one episode — Season 5’s “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken,” which featured an especially controversial rape scene — fell into the “rotten” category. The second-most poorly reviewed episode still received a respectable 77%.
Even more impressively, 22 episodes scored a 100% “fresh” rating and 51 are at 90% or higher. Four different episodes from Season 3 landed in the top 10, which was rounded out by two from Seasons 4 and 5 each and one apiece from Seasons 2 and 6.
Because so many episodes received unanimous praise, Rt compiled its rankings by favoring the episodes that received...

At the Primetime Emmys telecast on September 17 we weren’t expecting “Game of Thrones” to win any of its five categories, but it surprised us twice, and they were pretty big surprises: it claimed Best Drama Series for the third time and also Best Drama Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage for the third time. That brings the show’s total awards for the year to 9 and its all-time total to 47, which is by far the most awards for a primetime drama or comedy in a single year.
It’s hard to imagine a behemoth like “Game of Thrones” being considered an underdog anywhere, especially at the Emmys where it earned the most nominations of any program this year (22), but most of our users thought last year’s winner, “The Handmaid’s Tale,” would carry its momentum for another year. However, “Handmaid’s” ended up shut out entirely at the telecast,...

“Game of Thrones” tied “Saturday Night Live” as the biggest winner at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmys over the weekend. Both shows won seven prizes, extending their respective records. “SNL” is the most awarded show of all time, now with 71 wins. And “Game of Thrones” continues to be the most awarded primetime drama or comedy of all time, now with 45 total prizes. How many more do you think it will win when the final awards are handed out at the primetime telecast on Monday?
“Thrones” is up for five more awards at the upcoming telecast: Best Drama Series, Best Drama Supporting Actor (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage), Best Drama Supporting Actress (Lena Headey), Best Drama Writing (“The Dragon and the Wolf”) and Best Drama Directing (“Beyond the Wall” and “The Dragon and the Wolf”). If it wins all of them that will bring it to 12 awards for the year, tying its...

Maisie Williams has been mourning Game of Thrones in recent weeks, and apparently was feeling so caught up in her feelings over the weekend that she went and got herself a tattoo inspired by the HBO series. William's went for a more subtle approach when it came to repping the show, opting simply to go with "No One," to commemorate the show:

Nice. Hopefully that's not a spoiler, and just a reference to Arya's training at the House of Black. Imagine if this was the actresses' subtle way of telling us none of the show's major characters survive this war! That would be devastating, although I can't say I would be surprised if it did go down like that. What do you think of Williams' new tattoo?...

What does it take to get Tiffany to advertise on TV? A big event like the Super Bowl – or this weekend’s royal wedding between Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle.
