In Sony Pictures Animation's THE STAR, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told - the first Christmas.Written by
The first Sony Pictures Animation film to not have Sony Pictures Imageworks do the animation. Instead Cinesite studios provided the imagery and animation which was a great departure from other Sony Pictures Animation films which has the animation and imagery provided by Sony Pictures Imageworks. My kids and I completely enjoyed this film! To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, I thought it was just gonna be yet another animated retelling of the first Christmas, but was much better than that! The jokes and gags are actually hilarious and will make kids and grown ups alike burst with laughter. I like that this tells the story of the first Christmas from the perspective of the animals. That makes it different and something I have not seen before. Artistic license is used a lot of course, but I think they stuck to the spirit of the story and kept the most important biblical details in there, while still making it lots of fun!
