Georgia Loser Threatens Local Film Industry

Although Stacey Abrams failed in her bid to become Governor of Georgia, her resistance to the loss, threatens the state of Georgia's film industry, impacting Georgian actors and crew, who make a living, taking care of their families through entertainment, with Abrams egging on a group of Hollywood B-actors, demanding a work boycott, without the permission of the Screen Actors Guild :

The film industry in Georgia was boosted substantially by tax incentives introduced in 2002 by Republican Governor Sonny Perdue, then strengthened by Perdue in 2008. In the fiscal year 2017 film/TV production had an economic impact in Georgia of $9.5 billion, overtaking California to be the Number One destination for film production in the Us.

According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development there are more than 5,000 individual technicians and other workers in Georgia, with the average number of local employees on a medium budget feature film 150-175 and on a larger budget production,

Millie Bobby Brown Hints Stranger Things Won't End With Season 3

Millie Bobby Brown Hints Stranger Things Won't End With Season 3
Don't worry, Stranger Things fans. Season three might not be the show's final season after all. Millie Bobby Brown seemingly dropped this hint during her guest appearance on Monday's episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. During the interview, Stephen Colbert questioned the Eleven star about a recent photo that showed her tearing up after filming the most recent season. The photo, along with her caption "told u…," sent fans into a frenzy and left them wondering if they would be saying goodbye to the citizens of Hawkins, Ind. But after the host asked the actress if the photo signified the series' end or a character's death, Brown shot these notions...

35 Things You Didn't Know About Stranger Things

Dan Cooper Nov 20, 2018

Inspirations, special effects, a nod to Jaws and what could have been a near fatal accident, we go behind the scenes on Stranger Things...

This story originally appeared on Den of Geek UK.

If like me, you’re a Stranger Things aficionado, you’re probably kicking your heels and mourning not making the annual round trip to Hawkins, Indiana this autumn, as the show takes a year off before season three releases. Upsetting, I know. While you could "do a Joyce" and spend that time howling in anguish at the walls, cursing the fickle and cruel gods of television, ultimately, that’s an inadvisable approach, as you’ll probably just get a sore throat and blame it on us.

Fear not though, because a crumb of comfort is on the way. The official Stranger Things behind-the-scenes companion has just released, courtesy of Penguin Random House, and it

Meet Olivia, the Cute Dog Who Starred in Both ‘Widows’ and ‘Game Night’ This Year
If you watched “Widows” this weekend and thought Viola Davis’ dog was literally the cutest, you might recall that the same West Highland White Terrier had a starring role in Jason Bateman’s “Game Night” as well.

According to Animal Casting Atlanta, a company that provides animal actors for film, television, music videos and print, Olivia, a “walking stuffed animal” stars in “Game Night,” “Widows” and Netflix’s “Insatiable,” where she had a brief cameo at a dog wash, this year. She is a three-year-old, 15-pound Westie.

Her trainer, Greg Tresan, told The Ringer that Olivia had her own trailer on the set of “Widows” and received on-site touch-ups. In the film, she plays Davis’ companion as her character, Veronica, mourns the death of her husband and gets roped in to some dangerous business.

First Look at Alexander Skarsgard in Godzilla Vs. Kong

First Look at Alexander Skarsgard in Godzilla Vs. Kong
The first set photos from Godzilla Vs Kong have arrived. The epic monster showdown kicked off filming toward the end of last week and, while these first photos obviously won't feature either of the two monsters people are going to shell out money to see, we do get a glimpse at some of the human cast members joining in on the action, as both Alexander Skarsgard and Eiza Gonzalez were spotted on set.

As is quite often the case with unofficial set photos, this first batch of images isn't terribly revealing. We see both stars in gold and black jumpsuits with harnesses on a treacherous, mountainous terrain. Could it be that they're off somewhere on Skull Island looking for King Kong? That's purely speculative at this point. What we do see is Alexander Skarsg&#229rd looking rather angry in one particular shot. What's he angry about? Again, at this point,

The First Set Photos From Godzilla Vs. Kong Have Surfaced Showing Alexander Skarsgard and Eiza Gonzalez

Director Adam Wingard has started production on Godzilla Vs. Kong, and today we have our first look at Alexander Skarsgard and Eiza Gonzalez in the film thanks to some set photos that have surfaced.

As you’ll see in the photos, Skarsgard is pissed off and fighting what looks to be some members of his own team as they are all wearing the same battle gear.

This film will see the two iconic creatures will do battle amid a "human conspiracy" to wipe out the giant monsters for good. Here’s the previously released synopsis:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins,

First Godzilla vs. Kong set photos feature Alexander Skarsgard and Eiza Gonzalez

Last week, Legendary announced that filming on 2020’s big MonsterVerse clash Godzilla vs. Kong had got underway, and now we’ve got a look at the first set photos direct from Honolulu in Hawaii.

Naturally, both the King of the Monsters and the Eighth Wonder of the World are absent, given that they’re CGI creations and all. However, we do get a look at new cast additions Alexander Skarsgard (Big Little Lies) and Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), both of whom are sporting gold and black military jumpsuits, while Skargsard’s character also seems to have had a bit of a falling out with another member of his team.

Film Review: River’s Edge (2018) by Isao Yukisada

Films taking place in the 80’s and 90’s have been one of the recent trends of international cinema (“Stranger Things” has probably something to do with it), with the majority of them trying to benefit from the sense of nostalgia they emit. Isao Yukisada (one of the most talented contemporary Japanese directors in my opinion) makes his effort in the style, through a combination with teen, high school drama based on the homonymous manga by Kyoko Okazaki.

“River’s Edge” is screening at the Five Flavours Festival

The story takes place in the 90’s and revolves around a number of characters who attend the same high school. Haruna is a girl who appears detached from everything, despite the fact that she has a boyfriend, Kannonzaki, and is part of a gang of the three that also includes Rumi, a girl who has sex with mature men who shower her with expensive gifts,

‘House of Cards’ Ratings: Robin Wright-Led Season Draws Older, Female Audience

‘House of Cards’ Ratings: Robin Wright-Led Season Draws Older, Female Audience
House of Cards” has seen audience erosion in its final season, according to a new ratings report by Nielsen. The service reports that younger viewers and men watched the show’s recent sixth season less often than past seasons.

Nielsen reports that although “House of Cards” attracted a more male-heavy audience in past seasons, the show now skews more female. Its audience is now 54 percent female, compared to men comprising 56 percent of viewers in Season 5.

Also, the percentage of adults under 35 (22 percent) has shrunk greatly from Season 5 (35 percent), while adults ages 50-64 now account for 27 percent of the show’s audience, compared to 19 percent in Season 5.

Part of that can be attributed to natural erosion of a show in its sixth season, but there’s likely a larger issue at play: The scandalous departure of star Kevin Spacey, who was fired following sexual assault allegations. Now in its final season,

  • Variety
‘House of Cards’ Season 6 Ratings on Netflix: U.S. Viewers Drop From Prior Season
House of Cards,” in the sixth and final season of Netflix’s political thriller, is off to a slower start than its penultimate run last year.

Netflix released all eight episodes of season 6 on Nov. 2, starring Robin Wright as President Claire Underwood, who navigates new political machinations and scandals — as well as demons from her past. Notably, the last season of “House of Cards” is missing previous star Kevin Spacey after the disgraced actor was dismissed from the show.

In the first seven days of its availability, the season 6 premiere episode received an average minute audience of 2.9 million U.S. viewers compared with 4.4 million for season 5’s first episode over the same time period (May 30-June 5 2017), according to Nielsen’s Svod Content Ratings measurement service.

For all eight episodes of “Hoc” 6 in the first week of release, the average minute audience was 1.5 million U.S. viewers, a drop from 1.9 million for season 5’s 13 episodes.

Stacey Abrams Urges Hollywood Not To Boycott Georgia: “We Will Fight – And We Will Win”

After an uphill midterm election battle and a tight race that resulted in claims about voter suppression in Georgia, Democrat Stacey Abrams conceded to Republican Brian Kemp (who oversaw the election as Georgia’s secretary of state) in her efforts to become the first black female governor of the state. Despite not winning the post as governor amidst all the controversy, Abrams kept her head up and will continue her efforts to be the leader she is and was meant to be. More than that, she addressed Hollywood’s pushback against the state which has become an epicenter of production for the industry.

“I appreciate the calls to action, but I ask all of our entertainment industry friends to support #FairFightGA – but please do not #boycottgeorgia,” Abrams wrote on Twitter. “The hard-working Georgians who serve on crews & make a living here are not to blame. I promise: We will fight – and we will win.
