Marvel Insider Claims Sadie Sink Is Playing Tobey Maguire’s Daughter in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Image
Sadie Sink might be swinging straight outta the Upside Down and into the Spider-Verse. Rumors are flying faster than Spidey on a webline that the Stranger Things breakout could be joining Tom Holland in the next Spider-Man flick.

While Marvel’s keeping her role under tighter wraps than a Demogorgon in a lab cage, fans are already flipping out over the idea of Max Mayfield teaming up—or facing off—with Peter Parker. Holland even dropped a sneaky hint about the project during a Good Morning America appearance last year.

Now, the fandom’s in full spec mode: Is she a friend? Foe? Or something far stranger?

Sadie Sink might be trading her skateboard for web-shooters. Not just any web-shooters, but Tobey Maguire’s. Word on the Multiverse streets...

15 Actors Who Almost Starred In Game Of Thrones
Image
If you were a struggling actor in the U.K. in the early 2010s, odds are you probably auditioned for "Game of Thrones." Set in the epic world created by George R.R. Martin and considered one of the best fantasy shows of all time, the series showcased an expansive roster of widely beloved (and horribly loathsome) characters. That cast included all-time greats of British film and theater, like Sean Bean and Charles Dance, as well as future stars like Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington.

However, as with any popular show, many actors auditioned or were offered parts that never materialized, or perhaps not in the way they had anticipated. From future A-listers who HBO unbelievably rejected to big names the show wasn't able to convince to be a part of the pop culture phenomenon, these are 15 actors who were almost cast on "Game of Thrones," but thankfully, for the actors...

U2 Legend Bono on Why the World Has Forgotten What Freedom and Democracy Mean
Image
A lifelong storyteller, Bono continues to take audiences to that other place.

The longtime frontman for U2 is the focus of the Apple TV+ documentary Bono: Stories of Surrender, which just got a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

He tells The Hollywood Reporter about the film and that potential U2 series.

In the film, you discuss the strangeness of not having your band with you. Did this process allow you to connect with your songs in a new way?

Absolutely. If you change the key, you’re already changing the mood of the song. If you slow down the tempo, you’re already changing it. In the case of Stories of Surrender, it has to drive the story forward. So “Sunday Bloody Sunday” is involved, not just because it’s a song that U2 fans like, but because it illustrates and hopefully illuminates a period in time when...

Stranger Things: How Vecna Draws Chilling Inspiration From These Iconic Horror Villains
Image
The Horror Villains That May Have Shaped Stranger Things’ Vecna ( Photo Credit – Netflix )

Back in 2022, Stranger Things Season 4 dropped a real monster. This one was not just any creature from the Upside Down; it had serious horror roots. Fans met Vecna, the vine-wrapped villain who creeped through Hawkins like a nightmare. But if you looked closely, he felt oddly familiar. And no, it wasn’t déjà vu. Vecna is a walking tribute to horror legends, stitched together with precision and love for the genre’s golden age.

The most obvious influence? Freddy Krueger. Yep, the dream-haunting slasher from Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Vecna didn’t just resemble Freddy with his shredded skin and twisted mind games, but practically mirrored him. Both went after teens, attacked them inside their heads, and delivered kills that looked straight out of a fever dream. Remember Chrissy’s levitating death? That...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Merch Reveals Best Look Yet At Galactus' Character Design
Image
We got a first look at Funko's initial wave of POPs for The Fantastic Four: First Steps (beware of spoilers for one particular character below) earlier today, and thanks to some new images, we now have a glimpse of the 6-inch Galactus Pop.

Aside from a couple of obscured shots in the trailers and some blurry promo art, we have yet to get a proper look at this first comic-accurate (he did appear as a cloud in Fox's Fantastic Four sequel) take on the Devourer of Worlds, who will be played/voiced by Ralph Ineson.

Though this Pop is obviously not the most detailed representation of how the powerful villain will be depicted in the movie, it does give us our best look yet at the finer points of the costume and overall character design.

"I’m not someone who knows the whole lore of Marvel," Ineson admitted during a 2024 interview.

Ralph Fiennes joins ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ as President Snow: Everything we know about ‘The Hunger Games’ prequel
Image
The Hunger Games franchise keeps expanding. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the sixth installment in the overall Hunger Games film franchise and the second prequel, is in development at Lionsgate, with a fall 2026 premiere slated.

Sunrise on the Reaping is based on a dystopian young adult novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, published in March 2025. It became the fastest-selling title in the Hunger Games book series so far, selling more than 1.5 million copies in its first week. The film adaptation was already in the works. Still, with the publication of the novel, the pace of movie development has accelerated, and news about it is emerging at a steady clip.

Here’s what we know so far about The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

What is Sunrise on the Reaping about?

Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games. It...

Cord-Cutting Chaos Looms After ESPN, Fox, CNN Streaming Apps, Charter’s Giant Combo
Image
TV’s annual Upfront Week is supposed to be devoted to TV-industry build-up. Instead, executives have unveiled new and ambitious plans that will ultimately break the whole sector down.

Three of the best-known names in TV this week announced their intent to open up new shops off the traditional screen. Disney’s ESPN, after much chatter, will put all its sports coverage and studio programming on a new direct-to-consumer streaming app that executives hope will drive a business that is more heavily dependent on broadband video outposts like Hulu and Disney+. CNN, one of the pillars of the old-school cable bundle, intends to debut two different digital shingles, one tied to its news coverage, and another linked to news about the weather. And Fox Corporation, perhaps the staunchest defender in recent years of staying tied to cable, said that it too, would put all its TV offerings — including its coveted...

Denzel Washington As Race-Swapped Magneto Rumor Reportedly True, Racist Backlash Has Already Begun
Image
One rumor is gaining serious traction (and backlash): Denzel Washington is stepping into the role of Magneto. According to recent reports, the legendary actor is confirmed to play a race-swapped version of the iconic X-Men villain. While many fans are hyped to see what Washington brings to the table, not everyone’s on board.

The announcement has sparked waves of racist outrage online, proving once again how deep-rooted bias runs in fandom spaces. As Marvel continues pushing for more inclusive casting, this move could reshape the MCU and challenge some uncomfortable truths along the way.

Marvel reportedly wants Denzel Washington to play Magneto in the MCU. On May 16, “Comic Media” posted the update via Instagram. Jeff Sneider from The Hot Mic podcast claims Marvel is seriously considering Washington for the role.

Lady Gaga Set to Perform at Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event

Lady Gaga is set to take to the stage at Netflix’s Tudum: The Live Event on May 31.

Gaga is set to make an appearance in “Wednesday” Season 2. While the exact nature of Gaga’s role is still under wraps, sources have said it will be a cameo appearance. The show will return on Aug. 6, debuting with Part 1, while Part 2 will follow on Sept. 3.

Earlier this month, Gaga performed the biggest concert of her career. Bingeing, Weekly, or Batches? Is There a Right Way to Roll Out a Series on Streaming?
Image
When the fourth season of “Stranger Things” dropped on Netflix in 2022, the streamer’s biggest tentpole series was not available all at once to binge — which it had been for its prior three seasons, just as virtually every Netflix show to that point had been released. The show ended on a cliffhanger seven episodes in, and a little over a month later, the two-part finale created another streaming moment.

“Stranger Things 4” had been delayed because of Covid-related shutdowns, and so too was “Emily in Paris” Season 4 derailed by the 2023 writers and actors strikes, causing that show to likewise be released in two batches. According to a Netflix spokesperson, instead of delaying the whole season, Netflix opted to release what it had to fans early and roll out the remainder later when they were ready.

Rather than a sign of a greater shift in strategy, the binge model is still its North Star,...

Wednesday Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Potential Plot & All You Need To Know Before Netflix Brings Back Spooky Fun!
Image
Wednesday Season 2 Update (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Wednesday is officially crawling back to your screens — and this time, it’s splitting the chaos. Netflix has confirmed that Wednesday Season 2 will premiere in two parts, with Part 1 landing on August 6 and Part 2 following on September 3. That means fans will only get half the mystery first and then wait nearly a month for the rest. Sound familiar? Yup, this split-drop strategy is becoming a Netflix trend post-Stranger Things 4 and The Witcher.

Wednesday Season 2 Plot: What’s Brewing At Nevermore?

Jenna Ortega will return as the sharp-tongued, deadpan queen of the outcasts. This season, Wednesday will take on an even darker supernatural puzzle while juggling frayed friendships, new foes, and, of course, that wonderfully bizarre family.

The creators are teasing a more layered journey this time. As co-showrunner Alfred Gough put it (via Tudum): “Wednesday Season 1 was a table setter, but there...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Funko POPs Reveal First Look At [Spoiler]
Image
Funko has officially unveiled its first wave of The Fantastic Four: First Steps POPs, and in keeping with the company's tradition of revealing spoilers for upcoming movies, these plastic Fantastics confirm that a certain character will make their MCU debut in the reboot.

Spoilers ahead.

In addition to all four members of Marvel's First Family and the Silver Surfer, the Sue Storm Pop comes with Franklin Richards. This reveal probably won't come as a major surprise, since we've been hearing rumors that Reed and Sue's son will appear in First Steps for a while, and the most recent trailer confirmed that Sue will be pregnant (we now know that she will give birth at some point).

A previous rumor claimed that Avengers: Doomsday was casting actors between 10-13 to play Franklin, who will have a "major role" in the film. If you're a fan of the Ff comics, you'll...

Rumor: Sadie Sink's Spider-man: Brand New Day Role Revealed - And She's Tied To Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker
Image
Rumblings that Stranger Things star Sadie Sink was being eyed to play Jean Grey in Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot first did the rounds earlier this year. However, we've since learned that she will star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (and not as the powerful psychic).

Sink's role has been kept under wraps, but on The Hot Mic podcast, John Rocha revealed what he's heard. Apparently, the actress is playing Mayday Parker, the daughter of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

In the comics, May "Mayday" Parker is the first child of Peter and Mary Jane Parker in a future, alternate universe. In that reality, Kaine reunited the couple with the baby they believed died during childbirth; in a later battle with the Green Goblin, Spidey lost a leg and decided to retire from crime-fighting.

Mayday eventually gained powers of her own as a teenager and donned Ben Reilly's...

Netflix renews underrated show for final season (and not one we expected)
Image
Netflix had a busy Upfronts presentation this year! Not only did the streamer tease some of its upcoming slate, which includes new seasons of Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Squid Game, but Netflix also went ahead and renewed eight of its shows, six of those being scripted series! Some of the most recent hits like Forever and The Four Seasons will be back with new seasons.

While Netflix left a few of its shows on the bubble and awaiting word on their fate, an underrated comedy series isn't waiting for a renewal or a cancellation... because it got both! Michelle Buteau's hilarious romantic comedy series Survival of the Thickest has been confirmed to return for a third and final season on Netflix. Buteau shared the announcement in a video released during Upfronts.

Survival of the Thickest might not have been the Netflix show viewers expected to be renewed. The series,...

The best Disney+ shows to stream right now (no kids required)
Image
From superheroes to ‘Star Wars,’ these shows go way beyond Saturday morning vibes.

Disney+ used to feel like it was mostly for kids — animated classics, princesses, and stuff to keep little ones busy. But that’s definitely not the case anymore. These days, it’s got some legit TV shows that go way beyond the kiddie pool. We’re talking gritty superheroes, moody Star Wars spinoffs, smart animated series, and even some bold swings that feel more grown-up than anything Disney would’ve touched a few years ago. If you haven’t checked out the TV side in a while, now’s the time. Here are my top seven shows to stream on Disney+ right now.

Top 7 TV shows streaming on Disney+ right now:

No. 7: ‘Goosebumps’

No. 6: ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’

No. 5: ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’

No. 4: ‘Win or Lose’

No. 3: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Firestarter’s Ryan Kiera Armstrong to lead the sequel series
Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer legacy sequel series is coming together a lot faster than expected. Indeed, Deadline is reporting that Ryan Kierra Armstrong has landed the coveted role of the new Slayer opposite returning star Sarah Michelle Gellar. The fifteen-year-old Armstrong, despite her young age, is already a Hollywood vet, having played the title role in the Stephen King adaptation, Firestarter, in addition to one of the leads in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew on Disney+.

To note, Armstrong is much younger than Gellar was when she started playing the role back in 1997, which makes me think this reboot is going for a somewhat more realistic depiction of teenage life. Back in the nineties, it was commonplace for adult actors to play teen roles, with the practice still in effect in shows like Euphoria. However, other shows like Stranger Things started the practice of casting age-appropriate actors, to great effect,...

Steve Carell & Tina Fey's Hit New Comedy Among 6 Shows Renewed At Netflix
Image
The Four Seasons is among the six Netflix shows that have just been renewed. Since its May 1 premiere, the show starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey, which is based on the 1981 movie, has proven to be a hit on the streaming platform. After game-changing plot twists regarding Nick (Carell) and Ginny (Erika Henningsen), The Four Seasons' ending went in a surprising direction that clearly set up another season.

Netflix has now announced at their Upfront 2025 presentation that The Four Seasons has been renewed for season 2, only 13 days after the show first debuted. The other announced renewals include Bridgerton for seasons 5 and 6, The Diplomat for season 4, Survival of the Thickest and My Life with the Walter Boys for season 3, and Forever for season 2. Roman Polanski, Vincent Gallo, and Panos Cosmatos Plan New Features
Image
Nearly 92, more controversial than ever, and coming off perhaps the least-liked film of his career, Roman Polanski has not entirely been expected to direct again. Yet he, still among our greatest filmmakers, doesn’t seem content to let The Palace‘s final shot close his story. (That will mean nothing if you’ve not seen the film; those who have understand fully.) Polanski recently met with Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Maciej Wróbel, who revealed that their conversation concerned “plans related to the production of a new film” that will shoot in the director’s native country. [Wiadomości Gazeta]

As Polanski tends to keep a low profile, we’ve no pre-existing details on what it might be, though this hint of advanced funding and logistics stages suggests word would arrive shortly. As for who agrees to star in it or what festival opts to premiere it––that should be...

Maya Hawke The Latest Star To Join The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping Cast
Image
At this point, when we get word of a new casting announcement for The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping, we generally find ourselves saying "stranger things have happened." After all, Francis Lawrence's upcoming Games prequel has welcomed the likes of Jesse Plemons, McKenna Grace, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. to its increasingly stacked roster already. But today, Stranger Things really have happened: as shared on the movie's official Instagram account this evening, Maya Hawke — whose big break came playing Robin Buckley in the Duffer Brothers' Netflix smash — is gearing up to trade Hawkins for District 12 with a key role in Lawrence's new film.

Per Lionsgate's announcement video, Hawke is set to play eccentric District 3 champion-turned-District 12 mentor Wiress (formerly played by Amanda Plummer in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) in Sunrise On The Reaping, a movie set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen first entered the arena and focused on fan-favourite Haymitch Abernathy's games.

Netflix’s ads are growing up with new placement options and measurement tools
Image
Netflix is still a relative newcomer to the upfronts. The streamer has only participated in the springtime pitchfest since it obtained ad inventory to sell, and it didn’t get that inventory until it launched its ad-supported tier in November 2022.

Early on, Netflix’s ad tier encountered speed bumps on its way to viability. But two years after the streamer’s first upfront presentation, its commercial space is looking a lot more grown-up. Its 2025 upfronts pitch included details about new ad types, measurement updates for brands and agencies, and previews of upcoming shows, movies, and live events.

The epicenter of Netflix’s advertising operation is a newly-launched destination that has been dubbed the Netflix Ad Suite. That platform, currently available in the U.S. and Canada, offers a variety of analytical options. Advertisers can import first-party data while also working with approved third-party data partners like Experian and Acxiom. Netflix also announced new measurement tools,...

Inside the Netflix Upfront: Charlize Theron, Roger Goodell and Quite a Few Catchphrases
Image
Netflix returned to the upfronts on Wednesday afternoon with a presentation that, at first, looked like it might be a production of Waiting for Gadot.

Initially looking awfully serious, Jude Law and Jason Bateman stood in respective spotlights on an otherwise empty stage at downtown’s Perelman Performing Arts Center in Manhattan. But the facade soon cracked. The dependably sardonic Bateman set up a trailer for their new series, Black Rabbit, as Law played his part and pushed one of the streamer’s chosen slogans of the day: “Welcome to the center of attention.”

The messaging has not changed since the last dog and pony show for media buyers: Netflix has achieved cultural ubiquity in a manner that no other streamer has come close. Naturally, it is the best place for advertising. Right? Right? Amy Reinhard, Netflix’s president of advertising, kicked off a one-ish hour spiel by reiterating that...

Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Adds Stranger Things Actor
Image
Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games franchise is expanding with Sunrise on the Reaping. The prequel has excited fans since it hit bookstore shelves in March, and now there's another reason to get hyped for the movie version: Stranger Things actor Maya Hawke has been cast in a pivotal role.

Per Deadline, Hawke will play Wiress, a former Hunger Games champion turned District 12 mentor, in Sunrise on the Reaping. She is best known for her role as Robin Buckley in Stranger Things, which is set to return later in 2025 for its final season. Joining the Hunger Games universe makes Hawke a part of another major franchise, and her addition is a major gain for an already impressive film.

Hawke joins Joseph Zada, who will play a young Haymitch Abernathy. The older version of the character was portrayed by Woody Harrelson in the original film trilogy. Whitney Peak will co-star as Lenore Dove Baird,...

Netflix Upfront 2025: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, ‘Stranger Things,’ and Renewals Galore
Image
Netflix returned to the upfronts in fine fashion.

Netflix’s upfront event took place at the Perelman Performing Arts Center in Manhattan. The biggest name in streaming kept things intimate, with a scant 500 or so people in attendance. Compared to Disney, which filled a convention hall at the Javits Center, and NBCUniversal, which took over Radio City Music Hall, Netflix’s presentation felt downright cozy.

Jude Law and Jason Bateman opened the show with some discussion of Netflix’s reach and programming before some playful banter and hyping up their new drama series “Black Rabbit.”

Amy Reinhard, Netflix’s president of advertising, took the stage next, telling advertisers in attendance that Netflix shows are not just put on in the background and ignored. “When you compare us to our competitors, attention starts higher and ends much higher,” Reinhard said. “And even more impressive, members pay as much attention to mid-roll...

Spring Breakers 2 Is Officially Happening 13 Years Later, but Big Fans Might Be Disappointed
Image
More than a decade after the original Spring Breakers was released in 2012, the cult classic thriller is getting a sequel. Written and directed by Harmony Korine, Spring Breakers follows college students Candy, Faith, Brit, and Cotty, low on cash, who decide to rob a Florida diner so they can pay for their spring break trip. But they are soon arrested by the police. Luckily, a drug dealer/rap artist named Allen bails them out, and they opt for a life of crime.

Now, a new Spring Breakers, titled Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain, has been confirmed, per Variety. However, there's a catch that might be disappointing for big fans of the previous film. While the original Spring Breakers starred Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, James Franco, and Gucci Mane, that will not be the case with Salvation Mountain. The sequel will feature an entirely new cast - and a new director.

'Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' Finds Its Wiress in a 'Stranger Things' Star
Image
Maya Hawke is officially stepping into the arena — but this time, as a mentor. The Stranger Things star has joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping as Wiress, the eccentric and brilliant former victor from District 3, reimagined here in her earlier years as a mentor for a new generation of tributes in Panem. Wiress, originally played by Amanda Plummer in Catching Fire, was best known for her cryptic demeanor and the now-iconic phrase “tick tock” — a clue that helped Katniss Everdeen and her allies survive the deadly clock arena in the Quarter Quell.

The cast for Sunrise on the Reaping continues to impress, too. Joseph Zada will lead as Haymitch, with Whitney Peak playing his girlfriend Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as fellow tribute Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, the future tech genius of the resistance.

Spring Breakers 2: Cast, Plot & Everything We Know So Far
Image
Harmony Korine's 2013 film "Spring Breakers" is a time capsule of the early 2010s -- a time when James Franco was still a big-name movie star and Skrillex's brostep bass wobbles soundtracked all of the cool parties in town. Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine, the film follows four college students who turn to a life of crime after meeting Alien (Franco), a drug dealer who convinces them to wear pink balaclavas, carry machine guns, and dance to Britney Spears power ballads.

Considering that Harmony Korine was banned from "The David Letterman Show" for causing mischief, it makes sense that he'd create a movie about renegades wreaking havoc. That said, "Spring Breakers" also taps into the universal feeling of being young, carefree, and wanting the party to last forever -- themes most of us can relate to, even if we didn't grow up listening to...

A24's First Hit Getting Surprise Sequel 12 Years Later
Image
The Spring Breakers sequel is finally coming. The original 2013 movie, which was the third film ever distributed by A24, was written and directed by Harmony Korine (who later helmed the Matthew McConaughey movieThe Beach Bum) and followed college girls robbing a diner to fund their spring break trip and eventually being dragged further into the criminal underworld. After it made back more than six times its reported $5 million budget with a $31.7 million box office haul, multiple follow-ups were scrapped while in development, including the Jonas Åkerlund sequel Spring Breakers: The Second Coming and a web series.

Per Variety, Spring Breakers 2 is officially in the works with Capstone Global and Signature Entertainment's company Capture kicking off sales at Cannes. The movie, which is titled Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain, will be directed by Matthew Bright and follow four girls, whose spring break road trip "explodes out of control" to the point...

What?! A ‘Spring Breakers’ Sequel Is Actually Happening and the Cast Is Stacked
Image
Get your bathing suit ready — a Spring Breakers sequel is on the way. Variety reports that Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain, the new movie from filmmaker Matthew Bright (Freeway), will follow in the footsteps of the original, even boasting a star-studded cast that will take over the next chapter of the story where Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and James Franco left off with director Harmony Korine more than a decade ago. This time around, the action will play out between a primary ensemble that includes Bella Thorne (Shake It Up!), Grace Van Dien (Stranger Things), Ariel Martin (Zombies 2), and True Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem).

In typical Spring Breakers fashion, the movie will follow the quartet of girls who strike out for the time of their lives during spring break. Billed as “a bold new ride for Gen Z,” the group will find plenty of trouble along the way with the...

Most Watched Shows and Movies on Netflix Collage – Pictures: Netflix – Illustration by What’s on Netflix

Over the years, Netflix has released some gigantic hits! Thanks to the top 10 data, here’s your guide to all of the biggest and most-watched movies, series, and live events on Netflix of all time!

To measure its biggest hits, Netflix uses hours watched and completed viewing equivalents (Cve for short). These viewing hours are from Netflix’s global subscriber base, and Cve works by dividing the runtime of the show or movie by the number of hours watched. It’s not perfect, but it’s substantially better than what other streamers provide.

Before Netflix switched its hourly figures, it used the number of households that watched within the first 28 days. While these numbers are hard to stack against the list below, we have kept a record of all the old Netflix viewership stats here.
