In a small town where everyone knows everyone, a peculiar incident starts a chain of events that leads to the disappearance of a child, which begins to tear at the fabric of an otherwise peaceful community. Dark government agencies and seemingly malevolent supernatural forces converge on the town, while a few locals begin to understand that there's more going on than meets the eye.

Joyce Byers' 1976 Ford Pinto is mention worthy because the lawsuit: Indiana versus Ford Motor Company became the downfall of the Ford Pinto. In 1978 a 1973 Ford Pinto was rear ended in Osceola, Indiana, conflagrated into flames and killed three teenage girls. While Ford won the lawsuit, the Pinto's demise was the result. See more
In the early 1980s, the lights on the kids' bicycles would have been powered by a tire-driven dynamo. The dynamo's output and thus the light level would have varied according to the bike's speed, becoming totally dark when the bike was stopped.
Additionally, as with the "flashlights" anachronism, the headlights would have been yellowish, not the blue-white of a modern LED headlamp. See more
