In a small town where everyone knows everyone, a peculiar incident starts a chain of events that leads to the disappearance of a child, which begins to tear at the fabric of an otherwise peaceful community. Dark government agencies and seemingly malevolent supernatural forces converge on the town, while a few locals begin to understand that there's more going on than meets the eye.

Did You Know?
Many of the scenes throughout season one are reminiscent of E.T. The Extraterrestrial, all of the scenes with the boys riding bikes especially when they are being chased by the scientists, the scientists using telecom vans to install surveillance, and listening in to all the townsfolk talking, scanning for unusual conversation snippets that lead them to who they are looking for. The teenage characters frequently use the phrase "chill" to mean hang around. In 1983, "chill" would have been used as a command to someone the speaker perceived to be overexcited about something. "Chill" didn't mean "hang out" until some point in the 1990's. See more
