Overlord's first sequence, which sees the soldiers jumping from a burning plane, was done by rigging a plane on a gimbal, actually blowing up the front, tilting it as if it were actually falling through the air, and sending stuntmen tumbling through real fire. See more »
The U.S. Army soldiers are incorrectly wearing the colorful Airborne shoulder patches (white eagle head, yellow beak, red tongue), rather than the drab, green and black "subdued" patches worn in combat. (See Saundersinsignia webpage for a comparison). Either the screenwriters weren't aware of this difference or perhaps thought that film-goers wouldn't notice or be more impressed seeing the colorful version which is worn on uniforms for non-combat events such as parades, etc. See more »
After the film was given the restricted R18+ rating in Australia, Paramount Pictures decided to edit out almost 1 minute of footage to lessen the violence for the cinema version. The subsequent re-submission got the film a more accessible MA15+ rating. Although this version never ended up getting released due to Paramount Pictures changing their minds to instead give the original R18+ rated cut to cinemas. See more »
Let me start of by saying... The movie was nice. Expected a bit more horror and maybe even more zombies. That would have made it a perfect score for me. Nonetheless what it did have was a lot of action and a lot of tension. Overall a fun watch and everybody in the room enjoyed it. Heroic storyline, a lot of gore, one of the best opening sequences I've seen in a while and some decent humor. Grab your boys and catch it at the movies if u can. Popcorn flick for a good time at the movie theater! Don't expect an Oscar contender here! Then You'll have plenty fun!
