Storyline

In the Mexican town of Santa Clara, lives Salma, a 16 year-old orphan who never got to meet her biological parents. The only story she's been told her whole life is that they abandoned her. Salma has spent most of her life dedicated to searching out clues for her parents' identity and their whereabouts with little to no luck, until she discovers a special book that is filled with stories of Santa Clara and the history of their people. With this new special book, Salma sets off onto an adventure with her two brave and heart-warming foster brothers, Jorge and Pedro, to find the missing links to her family's heritage in hopes to finally get to meet her long lost parents. Trivia

The film history started in 2004, but its production was delayed for years due to lack of budget. In 2011, Pixar's started working on Coco (2017), which was going to be called just as this movie, but since the producers registered their script and the title copyright in 2007 with the Mexican authorities, Pixar decided to change the name of their film. Good movie with a so so script
3 November 2019 | by jploxSee all my reviews

I'm a Mexican national and watching a movie with my 4 year old was a really good idea for a Saturday afternoon.

However, there was an excess of words that tried to be funny and made it difficult to comprehend for my daughter.

I will recommend to see it and watch with young eyes and remember being a kid with all your family elder traditions, that's priceless.

Don't try to compare it with Coco, it's a different setting and less a Disney movie. It feels more authentic and original.

Definitely there were things that could be donde differently, but my understanding is that the movie took a really long time to be made because of funds and legal issues.

I will definitely buy this movie and have it for my children to watch It again.
