Easter egg: When Christian shows up at Ana's work to berate her for not using Grey as her last name on her mail, just as he gets out of the elevator and is on his way to the receptionist, the author E.L James walks by.

In this film (as in many others) civilians do not tell the police when an investigation is over regardless if the character is tired or not. Especially investigations into physical assaults inside a home (as Ana is assaulted by Jack Hyde) must be completed then and won't be investigated later when it's convenient for the victim and witnesses.

In the final scene, Anastasia is sitting in the Nadu position. This is one of the basic submissive positions of a Kajira woman in the Gorean subculture, as it is described in John Norman's novel series Chronicles of Counter-Earth.

The book Christian is reading as he and Ana lounge on a beach chaise early in the film is called "The Hawk and The Sea" by Peter Bodnarus. There is no such book title in print (that I could find) and Peter Bodnarus is a well known Hollywood Art Director not a novelist. Perhaps the title is a nod to the hawk-like eye Christian keeps on Ana. This book is also a title that can be seen in Fifty Shades Darker during the board meeting where Ana gets the (at the time) temporary promotion. This may also show Christian's interest not only in SIP, but Ana"s work.
