Filming Suspiria Was So Intense That Dakota Johnson
I saw Suspiria in early October, and now, nearly two months later, I'm still recovering. Luca Guadagnino's remake of the 1977 horror classic is a mind-bending, beautifully choreographed spookfest that elevates gore to an art form, and sees Fifty Shades Freed's Dakota Johnson delivering an intense performance as dancer Susie Bannion. Despite preparing her body for the film for a full year beforehand, enduring strength and ballet training, Johnson still found herself in a spiral of anxiety when it came time to actually begin working on the film.

" had this f*cking meltdown four days before filming and was like, 'I can't do this,'" she said during her Variety Actors on Actors conversation with Armie Hammer. "I was in tears in [director Luca Guadagnino's] office, and I was like, I'm a fraud." She also recalled that Guadagnino and costar Tilda Swinton, who actually had multiple parts in the movie, had to

Will Grammys nominate ‘Black Panther,’ ‘A Star Is Born’ and other Oscar-friendly films?
The Oscars and the Grammys have seen a great deal of overlap over the years, naturally in regard to original scores and songs. Some Oscar-winning songs have also earned the coveted Song of the Year prize at the Grammys, like “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic,” “Moon River” from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin.” Some films have even seen their soundtracks break through to Album of the Year, like “West Side Story,” “The Sound of Music,” and winners “Saturday Night Fever” and “O Brother Where Art Thou?” After a year of great music in film, we could see any of this year’s Oscar-bound movies double dip at the Grammys.

‘Game of Thrones’ and More HBO Hits Are Streaming for Free All Weekend

‘Game of Thrones’ and More HBO Hits Are Streaming for Free All Weekend
Instead of celebrating the pillaging and theft of Indigenous peoples’ land this Thanksgiving, why not give thanks for something (at least slightly) less problematic? HBO is streaming all of its programming for free — all weekend long. As part of a Thanksgiving partnership with cable streaming service Xfinity, the premium channel is opening the gates to its entire library. From now until Sunday, non-subscribers can enjoy critically lauded shows such as “Game of Thrones,” “Big Little Lies,” “Silicon Valley,” “Veep” and “The Deuce.”

Lest all the TV offerings distract from great cinema, HBO also plays host to a number of excellent films. Laura Dern’s slow unraveling in Jennifer Fox’s “The Tale” is a must-see, although the childhood molestation drama may not be the best choice for group family viewing. In case you’re feeling nostalgic for last year’s Oscar season, HBO has Best Picture winner “The Shape of Water,

Here's The First Trailer Detective Pikachu Starring Ryan Reynolds

Legendary Pictures has released the first trailer for the live-action/CG animated hybrid Pokemon film Detective Pikachu. The movie looks pretty much what I expected it to be. It’s filled with lots of silliness, cheesy charm, and Pokemon. This is the little synopsis that was released with the trailer:

In a world where people collect pocket-size monsters (pokemon) to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective.

The cast for the film includes Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as Pikachu, Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Suki Waterhouse (Revenge), Rita Ora (Fifty Shades Freed) and Bill Nighy (Gideon’s Daughter).

The story of Detective Pikachu centers around Smith’s character’s father getting kidnapped. He teams up with Pikachu (Reynolds) to help find him. Newton plays a journalist who helps them on their quest. Ken Watanabe

No, It's Not Witchcraft - That's Actually Dakota Johnson Dancing in Suspiria

  • BuzzSugar
We know that Fifty Shades star Dakota Johnson does not take preparing for a new role lightly (just check out the training regimen she underwent for Fifty Shades Freed!), but how exactly did she prepare for a role that requires years of professional training? In her upcoming film Suspiria - a remake of the 1977 supernatural cult classic by the same name - Johnson plays Susie Bannion, an American dancer who transfers to a prestigious dance academy in Germany, only to realize that her new school has a dark history of occultism and is responsible for a series of brutal murders. Assuming there was no witchcraft involved in the creation of this movie, did Johnson actually perform her own dance scenes?

As it turns out, she did! According to Johnson, she performed about 90 percent of the dancing done by her character in the movie. Though not a professional, Johnson has had some dance training,

Dakota Johnson Brought Her Famous Grandma, Tippi Hedren, to the Suspiria Premiere
Dakota Johnson had a very special date as she attended the La premiere of Suspiria on Wednesday: her famous grandmother, Tippi Hedren. The two looked cute as can be as they smiled for photographers and held hands on the red carpet. While the Fifty Shades Freed actress is getting ready to give us nightmares as Susie in the upcoming remake of the 1977 film, her grandma is a horror film legend. The 88-year-old actress, who is Melanie Griffith's mother, is best known for starring in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds in 1963. Looks like Dakota is following in her grandmother's footsteps. See more photos of their sweet outing ahead.
