Worth Watching
Supermanfan-1331 January 2023
I'm actually surprised by how much I liked Blindspot. It's easy for this show to get lost in the shuffle of all the other crime shows to choose from because there are a million of them. Don't let it though. It's one of the better ones that's been on in the last few years. This show not only met my expectations but surpassed them in every way. It has an intriguing premise with so many twists and turns that it will keep you wanting more. The mystery and action was good enough to hook me from the very first episode. This show ended on its own and wasn't cancelled on a cliffhanger so you get to see the finished story. All that mystery pays off in the end and finishes with a satisfying finale.

I enjoyed it!

Blindspot starts with a naked woman, Jane Doe (Jaime Alexander), in the middle of Times Square with no memory of who she is or how she got there. Her body is full of fresh tattoos which turns out that each one is a clue to a major crime. Agent Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and his FBI team (Ashley Johnson, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza) try to solve the tattoos and discover who Jane Doe really is and how she got these tattoos. It's a show filled with action, mystery, twists sand turns, etc. At the very least it's a show that will keep you entertained and intriguing enough to keep you coming back to watch.

FBI - Can do anything - Luckiest Inteligence Agency in the world
M-a-shazaib23 December 2018
I don't know at what age kids would find this blunder to be good. Whatever happens and wherewver it happens, its these 6 FBI agents always around. They seem to get lucky with clues and be at the right time at the right place every single time. Nothing makes sense.

grasswhisperer3 November 2018
I have watched this since the beginning and it was cheesy but the current season has gone from bad to worse. I am pretty much done with wasting my time om drivel. Find some mew writers, please. This feels like really bad TV and it is going from bad to worse.

Going downhill fast
Hairy_Scot3 November 2018
Have faithfully watched this series from day one an have always found it enjoyable and credible. However an unfortunate downturn has taken place, Scripts have become more and more outlandish and unbelievable. Time to call a halt.

This show is getting cornier and cornier and makes me dizzy.
Top_Dawg_Critic3 November 2017
I originally gave this show an 8/10 1st season as it was new, refreshing and interesting.

As the episodes and seasons progressed, the stories got lame, and I started to get annoyed with Sullivan Stapleton's overacted intensity, so my score went down to a 5/10.

Now I just can't bare to watch the directors shaky all-over-the-place and quick zoom-in camera work that makes me dizzy with headaches. Dude, can't you afford a stabilizer?

The stories have gotten worse (have the writers run out of ideas?) and it seems to be playing similar stories in circles. It's a 2/10 now, and I wont be wasting any more time on this show.

It started so well
andrew-hill5151 November 2018
Season one was good. That's the only reason for the third star. It's a shame that it kept going after that, because season two was borderline unwatchable, and it got worse in season three. I'll never know if season four is any better.

Started Great, became lesser and lesser
oritroahmed20 May 2016
The pilot was exciting, tattoo girl and her FBI Handler.

Then it took a downward spiral. Every week, they are selecting a specific tattoo. Like Terrorists planned their event one by one, following a calendar.

The whole story was pointing towards a bigger story, relating our beloved FBI Agent Kurt Weller. But the way and size of the story is getting more clumsy.

And every time they are going someplace, where they already know that threat awaits, they only took one vehicle with 4 of them. So a nuclear bomb is going off somewhere and they sent 3 agents and one not so sure agent to fix it. There should be a whole Calvary ridding with them with all sorts of experts. This 4 man army vibe kinda wasted the series for me.

A TV Show including FBI should have the real traits of FBI.

Season 5 - 'Bout as Realistic as Unicorns
westsideschl30 January 2021
Dialogue very simplistic; make believe. Characters seem more like just actors than the real people they represent. Too rehearsed as if single sentence cue cards are being held up by the director; then cut & edit. Just a cheaply made talking thriller. The puzzle solving & hacking is so unbelievable that it verges on laughable. In real life there are thousands of full time cybersecurity computer specialists at the CISA, DOD, CIA, NSA, FBI, DHS, GAO plus private cybersecurity firms on contract none of whom appear in this series, and even if they did they are outwitted by one female fugitive using a generic laptop. Another example of unimaginative scripting (used many times before) is the defusing a bomb scenario of which color wire to cut - Gawd! A series that should have died sooner. Much more authentic is the French series, "The Bureau".

Getting worse by the season
mjcsekei18 February 2019
Enjoyed the show the first couple of seasons. But pretty hard to watch anymore. Acting is terrible, stories are just prolonging the end of a series. Think it's ran it's course.

Why is this still on?
PeteB12312 June 2020
The Blindspot producers must have some dirt on the NBC executives that forces them to keep this show on the air. How does it survive on just two million viewers? There's no competition on Thursdays, or I'd be watching something else right now. Prior to covid I'd be out somewhere. I quit this show years ago after giving this show a two season chance and it is still awful. It's unnecessarily confusing, the single camera work causes seasickness, there's no likable characters, people survive unbelievable falls, stabbings, and shootings, and everyone can solve every problem in seconds with just a few computer keystrokes or a couple of roundhouse kicks.

Very disappointing
ryancombs-9336510 March 2019
Blindspot started off great, Seasons 1 & 2 were entertaining and I found myself binge watching it on Hulu. Season 3 was okay, it was kinda boring in the beginning as I felt myself slowly getting less and less interested and stopped watching it a few episodes in. I eventually came back to it about 2 weeks later, and finished season 3 and was surprised it had picked up quite a bit and had struck my interest again. However, season 4 has been quite a different story. The series takes quite a turn and almost immediately becomes quite honestly terrible. The acting is progressively getting worse. The story has done essentially a 180 degree turn and things hardly make any sense anymore. It's safe to say it becomes extremely disappointing.

I Liked The Tattoo Story
ahmetkozan6 April 2016
Blindspot focuses on a mysterious tattooed woman who has lost her memory and does not know her own identity. The FBI discovers that each tattoo contains a clue to a crime they will have to solve.

Creative, exciting, new twists, great action; why do we watch TV? There's always a new clue, a new story, a twist to add that keeps you wanting to watch the next week. She is a top trained pro, and there is a level of doubt. The character interactions between Jane and Heller are complex, close, tense, loving yet harsh and unpredictable. The build-up of all the characters on the team is well thought out, not haphazard, and slowly creates a solid cast, just like CSI Miami, or the Sopranos was developed. This show captures your interest and is unlike another cop, medical or court series I've seen in a long-time.

I really looked forward to this show and I am not at all disappointed. I cant give it a 10 but a 9 does just fine. The characters are interesting and I find myself looking forward to each episode! 7/10

Grotty beards, too much music, shaking all over
Narce26 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have now watched 3 seasons of this show. It's not bad, but it's not as good as it could be.

First off, why the heck does Kurt never, NEVER shave or grow a complete beard? He just looks grotty in this "half-shaven" look. When he and Jane go to a glamorous occasion, she wears makeup on her tattoos so that she won't look out of place, but Kurt still looks like a street bum that happened to find a tux in the trash. Security staff would give him the bum's rush, he looks so out of place. He couldn't even be bothered to shave for his wedding!! OK, so this is his "trademark" look, but come on, shave once in a while - it'll grow back in a couple of days.

And he is not alone in the lack of "bare faced" appearance - just about all the men in this show have some form of facial growth. Thank God for the female cast; at least they are free from this.

Then there is the "shaky cam" trope that several reviewers have mentioned already. Hand-held cameras might give more flexibility and an occasional sense of realism, but they can easily be overused, which is the case here. Somebody go out and buy a cheap tripod for occasional use, PLEASE!

And the "music" - Blake Neeley never saw a scene that he didn't want to punctuate with his "deedle deedle" synth-heavy score, sometimes to the extent that the dialogue is difficult to make out. Maybe it's not his fault, maybe the director or the sound editor are to blame, but sometimes it just gets really annoying.

New York City is the obvious setting for the show, but how many times do we need a "mise en scène" of the city skyline or a helicopter shot looking down on the tops of skyscrapers to drive this point home?

Finally, there are the tattoos. An interesting plot device when they were introduced, they are being taken to ridiculous lengths in the 3rd season. This introduces some sort of luminous tattoos added by Roman, not visible without an activation device that lights them up like Times Square. Then, by the end of the season, we get a whole set of "tattoo plans" in a computer file that are obvious fodder for upcoming seasons. Evidently, the FBI can't solve a case unless there is an obscure tattoo clue to lead them to a solution. Couldn't someone create a simple text file?

The girl with storyboard tattoo
quincytheodore22 September 2015
Since the days of Michael Scofield from Prison Break it's been a rare occasion that a character has plot line literally tattooed on their body. Blindspot offers a couple of intriguing gimmicks and mysteries with the premise of savant consultant and stern officer, but it tends to be the same investigation cop drama again. Its original hook might not endure its barren plot device, underlying secret or romance subplot.

Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) pops up in Time Square, wearing nothing but full body tattoo. After thorough inspections, some of these flesh drawings are related to ongoing crime or terrorist act. It becomes clear that this will be your typical case-of-the-week gimmick, while the main plot of her mysterious identity is gradually revealed.

The most successful example of this premise in recent time is Blacklist. Unfortunately, Blindspot doesn't have the charismatic lead character, it goes with a more vulnerable Jane Doe for more sympathy effect. The other role of agent (Kurt Weller) Sullivan Stapleton, since the procedural show needs one authority figure for the dysfunctional buddy cop role, is not really memorable.

These two serve as eccentric consultant and stoic agent, which may have a bit romance subplot. It's honestly a bit dull, but Blindspot still has a shot with the mystery. The use of her tattoos can be interesting as long as it's consistent and not random patches for typical cop show. Psychology aspect should not fall to usual amnesiac cliché, which can be hard considering the premise, but it already sets Jane Doe for her own personality.

It also keeps the setting as part of story. The later episodes might not have grand Times Square or famous landmarks, but if it continues to played out in more natural environment, not just dreary office or facility, it will be more realistic to audience. It'd be even better if the tattoo or symbology could correspondent to distinct plot or particular of the episode.

There's a lot of inherit hindrances of this theme. For example, how much influence this girl can have or how the series handle the memory loss. It may pique audience's curiosity with the concept, but it would be a tough sell since the other elements feel overused.

Turn your brain off to enjoy
omberozombero1 September 2016
Let me summarize this show by this simple formula that every episode follows - mix and match the following for each episode:

Pure chance coincidence or random Deus Ex Machina sends agents on a mission to speak to 'someone' based on the mysterious tattoos found on the main character.

'someone' turns out to be an FBI most wanted or other random gang leader or heavily armed person, shootout ensues.

Random emoting between team members, teasing of a romance subplot or secret agenda.

'Twist' that everyone saw happening from the start in regards to this week's 'villain'

Exploration of implausible backstory for main character of some sort.

Attempted hook or cliffhanger into next episode.

This is a show by the numbers, with some pretty awful dialogue delivered by some cardboard cutout characters.

There is nothing original about this show, switch your brain off and enjoy the action.

Was Great Now Awful
DiveJumpShooterUSMC13 October 2018
The acting has gotten progressively worse. Not sure exactly what happened but I used to tolerate the show but I feel like it has just become reptitive and relies too heavily on ZIP being responsible for major plot points.

The guy that plays Weller while popular with the ladies is an awful actor and is too pudgy to be operational. And BTW they way they have deputy directors going put on missions is ridiculous NEVER HAPPENS.

Jane is unappealing and bad and ALWAYS has the worst haircuts and the fight scenes with her don't even try to cover up the idea of a stuntman. Its like they just put a wig and dark clothes on a man and don't care if it is obvious. The gal playing Jane is comically bad as an actress. When they zoom in for a facial expression it is like someone doing a parody of a bad 70s soap opera. Did I mention the hairdos? Whoever designs her hairdos should be forced to go wrestle alligators in a Florida reptile park.

Rich dot com is still kind of entertaining, Patterson is getting super hot and so is Tasha but Tasha is a bad actress. Reed as a character is just uninteresting and boring. Don't care what if anything happens to him.

And for God's sake get rid of the brother... He is such a bad actor it makes me mad. Just seeing him makes me furious and when he did the Aussie accent I wanted to go to a petting zoo and punch animals. And I love animals- why does NBC want me to punch small animals?

The show used to be fun because it didn't take itself seriously now they think they are super but don't have the chops to pull it off. Like they want it cancelled and are being purposefully awful.

Boooooo

I tried
Tactrix28 September 2015
I really did try to like this show, I gave it a genuine chance watching the first and almost half of the second episode but I couldn't in good conscience stomach the god awful acting that was being performed. I wanted to watch a few episodes to nail down exactly what was wrong so here are the results.

First, both the leads look like they're hopelessly lost, the male lead doesn't seem to comprehend the concept of facial ques while having to act and the female lead doesn't seem to express any emotion besides for surprise and confusion, which is at least understandable since she has amnesia. And after watching almost 2 episodes of this show I wish I did too.

Second, the supporting actors all seem to just follow along with these dim witted ideas that are spouted off by the leads as if they have no choice. Umm hello guys you're suppose to be in a smart law enforcement agency and yet you take at face value jargon like "She might be the most important resource we've ever had!" Based on what? On the 30 seconds you've seen her for? See this is the kind of stupidity no one should have to stand for.

Finally the coup de gras, if all the other elements actually worked in the show the dialog is just horrid, it feels like it was written by uneducated children which as it turns out is perfect for the male lead since every other scene he seems to be pouting and stomping out of somewhere. Like the scene where he asks a general to tell him something then proceeds to interrupt him repeatedly as he tries to answer, all in futile effort to establish that he as a character has some deep back story which no one cares about because his acting is so very VERY bad.

2/10 by some miracle you've managed to pull together a story that would work if only you'd bother to fire both the leads and replace the writers with anyone who actually passed English lit.

Been There, Done That
westsideschl2 September 2017
Same stories retold in now countless series of this type with many plot elements or character types "borrowed" from other series. Done before: 1. Evil surrogate motherly type. Evil empire. Terrorist cells new bad people in film. 2. Non stereotypical assistants such as computer nerd (usually odd white male, or female, or black), and not believable in supportive roles. 3. Plots typically fall into either steal a whole lot, or power control of any & everything. Some characters' primary role is to be eyecandy. 4. Lead character mysterious past slowly coming to light. 5. Action sequences with lots of MMA kicks and punches that are only barley believable and only because of positioned camera angles. Asian films would laugh at the lack of skill & athleticism in American knockoffs. 6. Dialogue with short sentences with few syllables for language challenged actors and/or viewers and to not over stress brain cells. Lots of jargon tossed in to sustain boring scenes. Acting is TV resumé loaded & appropriately artificial/mechanical. 7. Lazy writers with no experience in background for story lines results in same old non-creative redux. So boring; lots of ff to save time for life.

What happened??
buffettgal229 October 2018
Been watching since the beginning. Through the seasons some episodes have been hard to watch, hard to follow and watching the characters act and interact is somewhat cringing. Some episodes are not interesting, poor acting and the chemistry between the characters are hit or miss. This season is by far the worst! The train in the show has gone off the track. It's time to cut the loss and move on.

Interesting plot, decent Jamie Alexander. No more science girl/guy characters please!
grchatziraf28 May 2020
It is a decent show to chill and not think to much and the story is intriguing. Jane, Zapata and Reade do a decent job but that's where it stops. Weller is not selling any part of his role even for one second and I am trying to understand if it is the writing or the actor. In any case it falls short and now we are coming to my main objection. As someone who works in tech I beg the executives to STOP CREATING SCIENCE GIRL/GUY CHARACTERS!!! Science our days has become so vast that it is impossible to be a renaissance woman/man!!! This incredible stereotype know it all character which can do pretty much everything from IT administrator, hacker, network engineer, electrical engineer, bomb expert, chemist and the list goes on just does not exist and it's an insult to the intelligence and the job to real life people that work this jobs! Stereotype nerd stereotype Humor Patterson's character is a joke.

robertjc-210 July 2020
The ongoing ignoring of the time space continuum is tedious. Need something? Just write it into the script....I watch because I've been, unfortunately with it from the beginning....it's like watching a train wreck. Please make it stop.

A very lovely series.
adeboyeadeolaea20 August 2020
After 5 seasons, it has finally come to an end. It was a really good series. I enjoyed it. The characters are likable, you grow into them and explore their world with them and it ended well, a very befitting end after 5 years.

WTF happend to this show
moviehigh8116 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 was great Season 2 was alright Season 3 started getting bad And this season WTF man !

I don't mind the double agendas and the secret stuff ...because that's what the show is about ...but it just feels likeit does not know what kind of show it wants to be a FBI show A CSI show a CIA show A WHAT???

honestly I stopped watching because everything seems rushed and unsure about what they want and it shows the result is bad acting no emotions and almost no dynamic between the actors and the roles they play

To some it all up: Started great but after season 2 it totally changed into a other type of show
