Hot Spec Package: Ben Affleck, Gavin O’Connor Re-Team On Brad Ingelsby Script ‘The Has-Been’
Exclusive: The Accountant team of Ben Affleck and director Gavin O’Connor are circling The Has-Been, a drama scripted by Brad Ingelsby. I’m told Warner Bros is trying to make a deal on a movie that would happen on a fast track. No deals have been completed at this point.

The script by Ingelsby has drawn strong interest around town. It centers on a former basketball all-star who has lost his wife and family foundation in a struggle with addiction. He attempts to regain his soul and salvation by becoming the coach of a disparate, ethnically mixed high school basketball team at his alma mater. Affleck wants to play the former hoops star, and O’Connor would direct.

The Has-Been will be produced by Affleck and Jennifer Todd, Mark Ciardi and Gordon Grey, with O’Connor also expected to be involved as a producer along with the writer.

Newswire: Aaron Paul and Christina Hendricks team up to search for The Burning Woman

Breaking Bad and Mad Men never got to do a crossover special (probably because all of the Mad Men characters would’ve been old or dead by the time Walter White’s reign of terror began), but two people from those shows are at least getting a chance to star in a movie together. According to Empire, Aaron Paul and Christina Hendricks have signed on to appear in The Burning Woman, a new thriller produced by Ridley Scott.

Hendricks and Paul will be starring alongside Sienna Miller and Jacki Weaver, with Jake ScottRidley Scott’s son—attached to direct. Anne Hathaway: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

You know you’ve made it as an actor when you can pick and choose your projects. As an indication of her status, Anne Hathaway only felt the need to do one movie this year, The Intern, alongside Robert De Niro, which has just been hit cinemas. And it doesn’t look like a short-term go-slow either: her upcoming slate includes just two movies – Alice Through The Looking Glass, in 2016, and The Burning Woman a year later.

That’s certainly not a bad position to be in, and shows how far Hathaway has come in a relatively short space of time since arriving on screen as fresh-faced royalty in The Princess Diaries, and now she can lay claim to being an Oscar winner, and a star of two billion dollar movies. Nothing to be sniffed at that. No wonder she doesn’t feel the need to work very often.

The script is being billed by the trade as a cross between the Seth Rogen comedy This is the End, British flick Attack the Block and Bridesmaids.

The trade also posted the rough outline for the planned flick.

Hathaway will lead as Grace Winter, a newlywed who’s widowed and put on trial for murder. Grace and her husband Henry were board an ocean liner that was crippled by a mysterious explosion. They survive the sinking of the Empress, but soon realize that the lifeboat they’re in is carrying too many people. In order to survive, some have to die.
