Getting right down to it, it might be because there's been something "off" about the sixth season - not that I'm griping, even inferior "Archer" is still the best thing on TV - but 'The Kanes' seemed to really come from out of nowhere and just sort of explode. It's your basic meet-the-parents plot (sort of) with Sterling trying to behave himself in front of Lana's parents, but the humor's pitch-perfect, and the casting is even better. Who'd they get to play Lemuel Kane? Keith David. That guy was born to play this! He's got the scary father-in-law thing sewn up tight. You simply can't beat that casting, and he had me in a fit of laughter the entire time.
To sweeten that deal, the "Bullitt" Mustang shows up for a balls-out car chase (complete with Sterling in a fit after getting shot at: "This is an American icon!") and Pam gets to school some homies on gangsta etiquette. And after all is said and done, Christian Slater's the one causing all the trouble.
I mean, this thing's a winner; there's no better way to put it.
