General Santa Anna was captured wearing the clothing of an ordinary foot soldier. His Texian captors didn't know who they had until they brought him back to the battle site and put him in an enclosure with hundreds of other Mexican prisoners. These prisoners and his officers gave him away when they recognized him and started saluting him. That's when Houston knew he had captured the Napoleon of the West. See more
When Houston returns to Victoria in 1836 after the his stay in New Orleans, in the bandstand in the background a Sousaphone can be seen in use. The first Sousaphone was made in 1893. See more
