Bugle call used in Houston's camp was the more modern "To the Color", which doesn't appear in the US Army manuals until the 1880's. And the only musicians Houston had was a fife and drum, who played "Come to the Bower" during the battle of San Jacinto. See more »

Sepia is grossly overdone.
19 August 2015 | by See all my reviews

. The first, and most obvious camera trickery, is the affectation of the sepia tone in the filming of this fantasy. Who is it that is responsible for this: the producer? Or the Director? Or maybe they left all the video-tape out in the sun for too long? Then again, maybe they bought all their film supplies from Vlad Putin and the Iranians? After the mighty Obama has finished 'negotiating' with Iran, the whole world is going to be sepia-coloured from plutonium exposure. And you Democrats that voted for Obomber: it's your fault! The powers that be in IMDb have decreed that I should write a minimum of 10 lines in this critique for it to be acceptable. Whew! What an order! Nearly there. Back to my review of the first episode of Texas Rising : it stinks. The sepia tone won't save it. Putting colour back in won't fix the story line. I won't watch any more episodes. Back to surfing channels : where's "Vikings"?. Now that's a truly wonderful series.
