Trivia

In the third episode of season one, during the scene where Colin Hanks, James Brolin and Thomas Sadoski's characters are trying to chop down the palm tree in the front yard, the song playing is Bonnie Tyler's "Holding out for a Hero" from the movie Footloose (1984). Dianne Wiest, the matriarch on this show, was also Ariel's mom and the town pastor's wife in "Footloose". See more »

Crazy Credits

The show opens with the printed tag line, "One Big Family. Four Short Stories.". This is a pun. Each episode consists of four complete stories, presented one at a time. But also, the name of the family is "Short". So the four segments that make up each episode aren't just short stories. They're Short stories. See more »

Fantastic

Wish I would have caught on from the beginning, but I will watch all episodes. This is an extremely witty and tightly written show. Very funny. The writing and acting work perfectly together. The cast is a wonderful blend of seasoned and lesser-known actors and they are all terrific. I really hope that the show's popularity has staying-power, but that may depend on the intelligence of the audience. Even the kids in the cast are wonderful. I've looked up the cast members whom I didn't know within IMDb so that I could get to know them a little better. Keep up the good work. I really appreciate what you're doing. I have been recommending to others.
