Trivia

When Byamba returns to Kaidu's camp his horse carries several severed heads; the heads belonged to the eight Kaidu soldiers who accompanied Byamba to the capital. The heads were presumably chopped off by Kublai himself as depicted in the strange scene where a half-naked Kublai slashes something with his sword. See more »

Young Kublai: [birds chirping]
[birds chirping loudly]
Young Kublai: Birds? The great Genghis Khan demands a tribute of birds from our enemy?
Kublai Khan: Not birds, young Kublai. Chinese swallows. Ten thousand. You question your grandfather?
Young Kublai: No, Lord Genghis. Merely

What the hell is going on!
1 July 2016 | by dforce10See all my reviews

First off let me say that I thought that the first season was great but considering that it's been 18 months since the first season aired it would have been nice if they had included a "Previously on Marco Polo" sequence. It's been so so long since I've watched the show that I've forgotten a lot of the characters. It makes the new season very disjointed. I would literally have to go back and watch the entire first season to make sense of anything that is happening now in season 2. I follow far too many other shows to have the time for that to be even a possibility. About to watch episode 2 of season 2 so maybe my opinion will change after that but as of this moment I don't have a clue who most of the cast are. Were they in the first season?, are they new characters brought in without a explanation of who they are yet? Who knows. Like I said it's been so long since the first season aired that I and most other people wouldn't have a clue about what is going on without a synopsis of the first season.
