Formalized, Complex, and Costly -- the episode title perfectly describes this season so far.

It feels like this season is trying to repeat the success of season 2 by using the same format of intense scenes and plot twists at the end of every episode. The problem is, not much of significance has happened so far. When something big does happen, it feels like it is purely for shock value. I'm sure it isn't, but the point is that they're not pulling off the feel they want. Instead of recapturing the magic of last season, they have made something overly complex and formalized yet far more hollow. I still have faith that it will make an upswing, but this was not the best of episodes. It wasn't bad, it's just missing the spark of the last season. There are some story lines that I'm enjoying. I absolutely love Alison's current story. But I still need to see more of Paul. He was barely in last season. When we found out he was a high ranking official at Castor, I thought that would finally change. But it didn't. We still see him barely at all.
