Trivia

When Ty Walker breaks into Boyd Crowder's house, at one point he tells Boyd, "Let's just say I don't see you pulling thrill seeker hold-ups with a 'Born to Lose' tattoo on your chest." This is a reference to the scene in Heat (1995) when Neil MacCauley (Robert DeNiro) tells Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino): "You see me doin' thrill-seeker liquor store holdups with a "Born to Lose" tattoo on my chest?" Goofs

Raylan instructs the undertaker to move his mother's body from their family plot for reburial in the city cemetery. "Only her." he says, before explaining that his father, Arlo, can be reburied in a pauper's grave. However, no mention is made of his Aunt Helen, his beloved stepmother, who was also buried there in the second season and whom presumably he would want reburied with her sister. See more »

Ghosts from the past
7 July 2017 | by Mr-FusionSee all my reviews

From its cold open with Raylan setting fire (literally) to his past, 'Dark as a Dungeon' moves with a real sense of purpose. That bank job's still TBD, but there's plenty of dramatic potential still ringing from last episode's big twist: Boyd and Ava working together against Raylan. Thus far, Avery Markham (Sam Elliott) has ridden mostly on the strength of Elliott's screen presence, but he does get caught up in the Marshal's scheme to get Boyd. It's his biggest piece of action so far.

This is a great episode. The dialogue, the machinations of the players, and even an appearance by the deceased Arlo Givens. A season highlight for sure.
