I hoped for more.
10 November 2018 | by beverley-ruddSee all my reviews

When you see a film with a cast like this one, it's bound to be exciting. You expect great things... but I'm genuinely sorry to say, on this occasion, I don't think great things are delivered. Firstly, various reviews claim there are really shocking 'twists'. No. Anyone actively watching this film will spot the supposed twists coming from a hundred miles away, much as we did. In actual fact, the thing that did surprise me was how predictable the plot really was. There are many parts of the film that are entertaining, good even - but it could have been so much better. It is so slow burning that you expect it to build to a spectacular climax. All the waiting should pay off. For me, this just isn't the case. Yes, the acting is (as you might expect) impressive. There were some scenes that had me hiding my eyes and some others that did move me. But at the end, when you have sat through what feels like hours of build up, the end may leave you feeling just a little bit flat. Is it worth seeing? Yes. Am I likely to ever want to watch it again? No.
