    • Quotes

Audrey Parker: Vince said that if I go into The Barn with my father, I could activate the Aether in to stop the void, end the 27 year cycle. All the troubled would live and the troubles would be gone forever. It would be finally over, Nathan.

Nathan Wuornos: Really? I was kinda just getting used to it...

Audrey Parker: ...I have to go.

      Nathan Wuornos: You do.

Audrey Parker: And I won't be coming back this time.

      Nathan Wuornos: I know.

      Audrey Parker: I'm so sorry.

Nathan Wuornos: [he pulls her into a hug] What do you have to be sorry for?

Audrey Parker: Leaving you. I wanted us to have more time.

Nathan Wuornos: We'll always want more time. The trick will be being thankful for the time we had. We had an amazing time.

      Audrey Parker: Yeah, we did.

Nathan Wuornos: And I spent so much of it trying to keep you here, but now I realize the reason I love you is because you're willing to go. You are an amazing person, Audrey Parker. I never felt anything until I met you. You saved me. You made me real. I love you, Audrey. I will always love you.

Audrey Parker: Nathan, promise me something.

      Nathan Wuornos: Anything.

Audrey Parker: I want you to be okay. I don't want you to be alone, so promise me that you will find someone, you will find someone that will make you happy, and you will move on.

Nathan Wuornos: [voiceover] Move on? How could I ever do that? I will think about you every minute, of every hour, of every day, and that's why I'll be okay. After everything you've done for the people of this town, for me, Parker, You'll be with me in all the people who's pain you've taken away. With me in all the people in this town who are free to live, and love, and grow, without fear. When the sun finally shines down on Haven again, you'll be with me in all the families we've put back together, and the ones out in the world who've suffered with troubles, too. You'll be with me when Haven returns to the world and becomes the town we both know it can be. Every person that we have hope, faith that something good could happen for all of us. You'll be with me in every person who's happy now, at peace. Because you, Audrey, I'll never forget you. You will always be with me, and no matter what happens, I will always love you...

Solid end to a series that felt like it needed to end
As with season 3 and season 4, as season 5 moved towards the end I thought, they *must* be wrapping up the series this year. But while seasons 3 and 4 simply offered new twists that allowed the series to continue, season 5 finally ended the show. And even though it's been one of my favorite series, I'm glad they did, because there's a point at which shows try to hard to stay fresh, and because with things getting progressively worse each season, a season 6 would have been pretty darn grim.

The ending wasn't one of the best episodes of the series, but it was generally solid, showing off the show's usual ability to keep you guessing until the end.

At the same time, there were a few places where things were unconvincing or didn't make sense to me, but overall the show did a pretty good job of it.
