Yep, "lazy film making"

Warning: Spoilers
Watch only if there is nothing else on TV. At 15 minutes we'd given up - too many mistakes already! But we had a drink and plowed through all the bilge water thinking there must be a hidden plot somewhere in this mess. Figured out the girl's identity early; figured out who the murderer was halfway. The why was messy and thrown in like the end of a Lassie TV show. The "policeman" in charge of solving the murder was oblivious - left the crime scene to be cleaned without gathering clues; the French authorities released the body to the family before he knew the identity of it; ignored the dog who kept digging & leading him to clues; let the citizens take over another crime scene without examining the body even though the "cleaner" told him was murder, then it was ignored and not explained; AND SO MANY MORE MISTAKES! Just a MESS! The writers should never work again. The lead actor should change his name. Honestly, in retrospect, not worth the 4 stars we gave it. Now, I really need a drink to forget I watched this mess. Only watch if you're playing a drinking game to count the enumerable mistakes in this plot! Now that would take a lot of beer!!

Well done mystery
demodokos29 January 2024
In French, with English subtitles. In some ways this is a classic scenario, where the people of a small island town are trapped by bad weather with a killer. The detective and his assistant (who is not a member of the police) end up trapped on the island also, and the townspeople are not, at least at first, very friendly. Somebody is certainly trying to scrare them off. It turns out that both the detective and the assistant have old connections to the island. Ghosts are possibly seen, and the film gets just a bit spooky. There is another murder, and then bits of another corpse from years ago are found. The ending is quite well done, and I'm left wishing they'd made this into a series.

Some pretty scenery
Pegasus-101 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
But some pretty poor plotting. The inspector (who fled the island 20 years before) shows very little concern for the crime scene, letting the crime-scene cleaner he brings with him free reign over the house on her own. As it turns out she has a link to the island in her own past, but you really have to suspend disbelief a whole lot to swallow that reveal (like a six-year old child wouldn't remember her own mother?) There are some continuity issues as well -- supposedly cut off from the mainland by a storm, some scenic views show perfectly calm waters and sun drenched skies. That's just lazy film-making. Oh, and a day after the crime they find the victim's dog locked in a room, then take it to the detective's mother's house and lock it in another room for the night without food or water. That's the real crime in this story.
