Arnold decides to come out to his parents at his upcoming birthday party but first discusses it with Josh, Tom, and Claire. Mae reveals a secret which Alan reacts very badly towards. Meanwhile, Rose and Hannah go out for a night of fun.

At Mum and Hannah's, Mum, suggests they do something fun - like go to a lesbian bar. Hannah isn't exactly enthusiastic. Mum is unstoppable. Over at Dad and Mae's, Mae confesses that she had a one-night stand whilst she was pregnant with Grace. Dad is shattered. Meanwhile, Josh and Tom get ready for a dinner with Arnold. Tom is furious that Josh has bought bread when they promised each other that they weren't eating bread! Arnold arrives for dinner and not only tells them it's his birthday on the weekend and that they're invited to his party - but that he finally intends to tell his dad that he's gay. It's big news, especially because his dad is a big homophobe. Tom tries really hard to listen and be sympathetic, but it's hard when all he can think about is Josh's betrayal with the bread. Meanwhile at the lesbian bar, Mum is determined to have fun. Hannah knocks back some shots to cope... In the meantime, Josh gets a call from Dad and learns of Mae's affair. Meanwhile, Claire admits moving to Berlin was a mistake and she's coming home. In the middle of all of this, Josh gets a call from Mae.

Arnold, over at Josh and Tom's again for dinner, tells them that he has decided to come out to his homophobic father. Tom is too angry at Josh for breaking a pact they made, an especially difficult pact for Tom himself to keep, specifically because he is dating Arnold, to pay Arnold too much attention about his news. Mae breaks some news to Alan, which could be a major game changer in their relationship. They both need a third party to confide in following this disclosure, both turning to Josh. As such, they all decide that it may be best for Alan to spend some time with Josh. As Arnold is still dealing with the thought of coming out, Josh wants Dad to act as Arnold's dad in a role playing session. That acting does not quite turn out as any of them expects, but which is affected by what Alan is going through. Rose wants a night out on the town with Hannah specifically to a lesbian bar. Their evening is affected by how Hannah is dealing with her depression, about which Rose is unaware. And Claire, Skyping from Germany, has some news for the boys.—Huggo

As a loaf of bread causes friction between Josh and Tom, Arnold reveals he's going to come out to his parents at his birthday party. Mae has a big confession to make that leaves Dad heartbroken and behaving irrationally. Hannah's depression reveals itself in a disturbing manner, but Mum insists on taking her out for a big night at a lesbian bar. Claire reveals that she's coming home from Germany - again. Josh ropes Dad into helping Arnold do a musical dress rehearsal of coming out to his homophobic father.
