Storyline

Urban Estuary explores issues that plague many urban waterways with evolving infrastructures, such as dams, channelization, storm drain run off that brings harmful nitrates and pollutants into the water system. Filmed on location in Tampa, Florida, with interviews by a variety of experts, professors, and government officials. Experimental documentary, filmmaker Dana Plays, filmed and edited the film herself, rented water taxis to get tracking shots in the industrial mouth of port of Tampa. from mossy swamps to the industrial mouth of the river. The images are stunning and evocative portraits of the Hillsborough River and Tampa Bay.
