Sometimes, it's easy to overlook the depth of a character, especially those we all know well.

At the end of this otherwise mediocre Beck-movie," Martin Beck and Gunvald Larsson sit on a bench and have a coffee. Whether the screenwriters knew at that moment what would happen in the next film is unclear, but the sense of farewell between these two characters is palpable and almost painful. It's poignant, not only because of what they mean to each other, but also because both Martin and Gunvald are incredibly lonely individuals. Their attempts to find love have often ended in heartbreak, so they prefer solitude. In this film, it becomes clear how Martin's life experiences, both personal and professional, drive him to make choices he believes are right. But, as always, he forgets the most important thing - himself. It's subtle, but the last few minutes of the film are incredibly powerful in so many ways.

Otherwise, the film features yet another illogical and dull main storyline filled with bland characters.
