Did You Know?
During its first season, the series focused heavily on the real life politics of the Hague, with the series' fictional VPN existing among the real political parties in the Dutch parliament. Due to its tight shooting schedule, the series often referenced current events, sometimes only days after they occurred. The show also became popular amongst Hague insiders such as reporters and politicians who eagerly offered to guest star. D66 leader Alexander Pechtold
appeared in one scene, and Prime Minister Mark Rutte
even had a small cameo. This element was significantly toned down later during the show's run, although former Freedom Party MP Joram van Klaveren
appeared in multiple episodes during the final season in a plotline significant to one of the show's main characters. See more
