Berni is a married 40-year old mother who thought she was living the American Dream as a successful bank executive. She leaves the 20-year career when she encounters a hostile and harassing work environment resulting in multiple miscarriages. Disillusioned by the emptiness of what she thought was the right path; Berni is drawn to pursue a childhood dream of filmmaking. Without the security of a steady paycheck, no corporate benefits and increasing debt, Berni's husband is unhappy about the financial implications but reluctantly concedes. Synchronously, she is invited to join a group of North American speakers for a spirituality conference in India. I saw myself in Berni's Journey
27 September 2016 | by marqueemarketingSee all my reviews

Berni's Journey is a moving documentary which resonated with me and my personal reinvention.

I remembered the first time I went to India -- the sights, the sounds, the smells and the total culture shock.

I also cried and I was horrified at one point in the film but ultimately I felt gratitude that Berni shared so many of the same experiences I went through because it validated my own journey.

During the film you see Berni's raw emotion as she discovers the real reason she was inexplicably drawn to India to make this film.

You also find out how her family reacts to her decision (our husbands could share stories about their "crazy" wives and these things they just have to do -- even if they have no idea how to do them and it makes no sense at all!)

I hope Berni does a sequel.
