Quality from start to finish.

This is a truly excellent first episode. The fact that it's a true story perhaps had a bearing on the production, the storytelling is very realistic, gritty, and lacking the usual sensationalism normally present in modern day crime drama.

Some could argue the pace is a little slow, but it's deliberate, allowing the real story to be told, the importance and game changer, DNA.

Very good indeed. 9/10

When the police initially arrive at the first crime scene, the camera pans right to reveal the number-plate of the parked 'jam sandwich' police car at the bottom right of the screen. The car's plate starts with a B prefix. This plate reg was first issued on 1st August 1984, some 9 months after the events.
