Goofs
After Alice gets hired as a waitress at the club, Stanislas the illusionist comes up to her and makes a glass of champagne appear out of thin air. In the first shot from behind him, he shows Alice he has nothing in his left hand and then starts to raise a red handkerchief with his right, but in the very next continuation shot from the front, his left hand is raising the handkerchief, and his right hand is holding the glass revealed underneath.

Too much Dominique Pinon

I realize that Dominique Pinon is probably one of the biggest names they have landed in this series, so naturally they wanted to take advantage of his presence, but there is so much time dedicated to his (obnoxious) character (an internal affairs officer investigating Laurence) that he smothers the plot. And it's one of Agatha Christie's best, most complex plots, but it receives plodding treatment here; unlike "Cards On The Table", this time the David Suchet version ("Murder On The Links", 1996) is clearly superior. Alice looks good in her nightclub costumes, and her singing is a bright spot. **1/2 out of 4.
