An analysis of the trial and conviction of the A List celebrity Rolf Harris, the shocking nature of the so-called evidence against him, and the background to this modern day witch-hunt.
This documentary uses archive footage of Harris and others to explain how this terrible miscarriage of justice came about. The historical perspective is discussed from "Operation Yewtree" back to the recovered memory movement and the Satanic abuse cases of the 1980s.
"Operation Yewtree" resulted from a documentary released less than a year after the death of the DJ Jimmy Savile. After its screening, a deluge of allegations was made against both Savile and numerous other celebrities. Savile is widely claimed to have been the most prolific serial sex abuser ever in the UK, but most of the evidence against him is extremely weak, and some of it is clearly fraudulent. Although Savile cannot stand trial for his crimes - real and imagined - the same was not true for Rolf Harris. Before Harris, we saw the conviction of Max Clifford, who is also discussed here.
