The show at it's best speed
SpoodermanDerp10 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The mid season finale is finally here, the stakes are higher and mysteries are about to get resolved. With the Reverse Flash returning to cause mayhem once again, he comes toe to toe with The Flash. But things don't seem to go in the Flash's way, when he finds out he may not be the fastest man alive.

A developed cast was seen in this well rounded episode. Barry was now a straight up likable character who now deals with being a part hero who can inspire people. Flashback scenes make a return and were a descent watch as the show has used this method before and were proved successful. The Star lab crew, especially Caitlin, went through one hell of a ride as well because of the events circulating on Reverse Flash and the return of Ronnie or now known as Firestorm. I could safely say that Reverse Flash was one of the key points of this spectacular mid-season finale. He was menacing, ruthless and the mystery thats shrouded on him makes him all the more fascinating and an entertaining watch. His scenes with the Flash are just so visually spectacular that you'll get your jaw dropped thinking this is actually an episode from a TV show. Firestorm's introduction was great but I felt that he was merely shoehorned into the episode to get fans pumped up for momentous events in the future. The action sequences were well thought and just splendid to look at on screen. Whenever Reverse and Flash chase each other, I couldn't dare take my eyes away from the screen. The budget for the CGI was obviously not lowered and did not loosen in quality and it resulted into a heck ton of gripping scenes. Finally, Barry had also admitted to Iris his feelings that may or will cause a turning point for his whole character. With Eddie also finding out about the meta-humans, things may begin to get a little shaky. All these leading up to the next half of this season is sure to be an exciting one.

+A developed cast, +Flashback scenes, +Reverse Flash, -Firestorm felt shoehorned in to the episode, +Epic sequences with Reverse and Flash, +Visuals, +Barry admitting to Iris

Verdict: 9.3/10

Major reveals highlight this BIG episode
Fluke_Skywalker4 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is what I'd call a BIG episode. Oftentimes shows naturally have to stretch things out and move the narrative pieces slowly and methodically, but a couple of times each year (usually at the middle and end of the season) there will be some big reveals and bombshells--followed by several weeks of barely acknowledging said reveals and bombshells. But for now, what we get here is definitely game changing. Barry reveals his feelings for Iris, confronts the man (dubbed Reverse Flash) that killed his Mom, and we learn the true identity of Reverse Flash. Oh, and Caitlin's assumed dead fiancé shows up as a metahuman freak of the week. That last bit was a tad too much in an already over-stuffed episode, but I'm not complaining.

Once again the show's most powerful dramatic moments are between father and son. Both Barry and his biological dad and between Barry and his adoptive father, Joe. And that right there is what makes this show really tick. The action is good and the mystery and more comedic aspects spice up the stew, but for my money it's the relationships that really make 'The Flash' run.

My Goals Are Beyond Your Understanding
fastyles-5906129 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is my favorite episode of The Flash. First the fight between Barry and the Reverse-Flash is insanely exciting and good. Reverse-Flash shows how much stronger he is, and the scene gives us hints about who he may be when he says "You know who I am Barry". Then comes my favorite part of the episode when the Reverse-Flash is trapped and is integrated by Joe and Dr. Wells, there is some insane dialoge between Dr. Wells and Reverse-Flash, this scene might be the most exciting scene of TV ever. The prison scene with Barry and Henry is amazing as usual. And at the end of the episode Cisco suggests there were two speedsters at the night of Nora Allen's murder. And at the very end Dr. Wells is revealed to have the Reverse-Flash suit. I watched all of The Flash now and I know what happens, but what I thought when I first watched the episode was Dr. Wells was the other speedster and he was trying to protect Barry, and I also assumed he knew who the Reverse-Flash was.

+ Reverse-Flash

+ The fight scene

+ "You know who I am Barry, we have been at this for a long time you and I, but I'm always one step ahead."

+ "My goals are beyond your understanding."

+ "I'm not like the Flash at all, some would say I'm the reverse."

+ Extremely exciting trap scene

+ Reverse-Flash starts to be revealed

+ Two speedsters.

Merry Christmas
ThomasDrufke9 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Coming off the best episode of the series so far, it was going to be difficult to come close to the excitement that was last weeks crossover. The Man in the Yellow Suit was a step down from last week but still proved to be a decent mid-season finale.

It opened with The Flash racing against Reverse Flash in what seemed to be a calm meeting. Well then they took us a day before, a new way of telling an episode, and then came numerous Christmas themed scenes. I really like when shows acknowledge real life time. Arrow has done it both of the previous seasons, and Flash was no different. What I didn't like was the overwhelming amount of songs they decided to implement this week. The occasional CW type song at the end of an episode is acceptable but having 4-5 songs took me out of the episode a little bit. I also was unsure as to why this week decided to balance so many different story lines. It is Christmas season, but I don't know that Barry pouring his heart out for Iris was necessary this week. I would have rather had more scenes involving Barry's pursuit of the Reverse Flash or even just some scenes with Barry's two father figures. Detective West and Barry's real dad often share some of the best scenes with Barry.

This week had a lot of emotion. Grant Gustin's acting chops were definitely on display this week as he shared numerous emotional scenes with the cast. Even though I am not a fan of the Iris character at all, I thought the scene between her and Barry was really well acted, albeit it was pretty unnecessary. When we finally did get to see a good look and listen to Reverse Flash he ended up going after Wells. Obviously, with Cisco saying there were likely two separate speedsters that night Nora Allen was killed, it opens up the possibilities quite a bit. Wells is looking like he is one of them if the end of the episode is telling enough. But Thawne isn't completely out of the question, or at least a Thawne family member or even a distant Wells relative. The possibilities are really endless. It was just nice to finally see Reverse Flash.

Firestorm made his first true appearance this week. The special effects looked phenomenal as it's likely the budget was amped just a bit for the mid-season finale. But Ronnie's inclusion also gave us Danielle Panabaker's best performance. Her scene with Cisco was a great look at how good she can be when given the right material. It's also worth mentioning Cisco's 'Opposite Flash' moment. His character is really growing on me in the last few weeks and his comedic timing is really starting to show. So even with this episode possibly not giving any jaw dropping moments like Arrow usually does, but I am still looking forward to a little over a month from now for it's return.

+Good look at Reverse Flash

+Another speedster? So three?

+Father scenes

+Panabaker

+Gustin

+Special effects

-CW put in too many songs

-Iris drama

-Too much going on

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Man In the Yellow Suit
lbramson10 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
No way! No frickin' way! The moment we've been waiting for the Reverse Flash (secretly Harrison Wells) finally faces Barry like a man! This episode blew every one out of the water making the already awesome Power Outage look like a pile of dog turds. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration but believe me when I say Episode 9 takes my breath away everytime! For starters, the ending! Holy crap that ending gives me goosebumps, it's so good! Secondly, the speedster fight also sends shivers down my spine! The Christmas episodes are always the best but none have topped this one from the first season! If I could give it an 11/10, I would! But ultimately I'm forced to give it a 10/10 so 10/10 it is I guess.

The Man in the Yellow Suit
SpideyVerse2320 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Damn, this was a fantastic episode.

The Man in the Yellow Suit is at the forefront this week with Barry finally getting a lead on him. The action sequences between the two of them were really well done with Barry being totally outmatched. He has great moments with his two fathers, which were really well acted and his conversation with Iris was also well done. And Wells is really smart as we see how much he has played them till now.

After the ending of the previous episode, the Ronnie plot is revisited with it leading to great moments between Cisco and Caitlin. Cisco also figures out something about the night Barry's mother was killed and shares it with Joe.

Eddie's storyline continues with Joe finally letting him in on some of the things happening in Central City.
