Sex & Nudity

  • There are a lot of crude comments in this movie.
  • Drax asks Ego if he made a penis and explains how he would be able to make a baby with a human.
  • Drax tells Peter that his wife would make his privates engorge.
  • Ego explains to Peter how he had sex with a lot of species throughout the universe. We see a 3D model of him making out with a bunch of different species.
  • Mantis tells everyone that Peter has sexual feelings for Gamora.
  • Drax says he has sensitive nipples.
  • A scene takes place at what seems to be an implied brothel. A shirtless mans zipper is down it is implied he had sex with a robot prostitute. No nudity and nothing explicit shown. Robot prostitutes are show being flirting and being caressed by men. LED signs show the outline of nude women although again nothing explicit and no actual nudity shown.

Violence & Gore

  • One scene where characters are shot out into space to suffocate and freeze to death.
  • Rocket has a remote control that shoots people up and down. He does that several times throughout the scene.
  • During the jail escape scene when Rocket, Groot and Yondu escape, Yondu throws his homing Yaka arrow weapon which flies around like a missile and impales many groups of Taserface pirate men through their stomachs and kills them. Not graphic and somewhat satisfying considering how they were all huge jerks
  • Drax jumps into a giant monsters mouth and violently stabs it from the inside. Yellow blood is shown gushing and spraying and he eventually cuts it open from the inside and a ton of alien goop comes out.
  • Some blood is shown, but no gore is ever shown.
  • Baby Groot is seen holding a severed toe (with some blood on it) in a humorous scene.
  • Some characters come upon skeletons in a disturbing scene.
  • Most violence is presented in a humorous and light-hearted tone.

Profanity

  • Douchebag was used.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • In one scene a group of characters are drinking heavily and acting raucous.
  • Groot is doused in alcohol in one scene.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A lot darker than the first one, especially because of its sad ending. Still very comedic and light-hearted though.
  • There are a few scenes where characters are shot out into space to suffocate and freeze to death.
  • A skeleton graveyard is revealed at one point.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Gamora cuts through a monsters throat. (Tons a Yellow blood)
  • Ego is blasted multiple times by Star-Lord. Pieces of his flesh are fried off by Star Lords blasters. Since Ego's body is made of pure energy this scene isn't gory.
  • Ego's (giant disembodied) brain explodes causing his body to disintegrate. No gore.
  • Ego creates a new body for himself. We see flesh, organs and bones forming around a skeleton and energy. This scene is somewhat scary.

Profanity

  • Multiple uses of "shit", and "asshole". "Hell" and "damn" are used as well. Moderate tough.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • An important character dies by suffocating in outer space. We then see the Guardians of the Galaxy holding a funeral for the character. This scene is very emotional and can be intense for some people.
  • The ending is very depressing and quite hard to watch.
  • One of the main character had an extremely traumatic life, and explains how her brain was taken from her skull and each of her body parts was replaced with a robotic one. There are two of these scenes, and one of them is a comedic scene, but still slightly unnerving.
  • At the Dairy Queen fast food restaurant on Earth is attacked by an Ego plant which quickly became overgrown and demolished the restaurant and it attacks downtown with people running away.
  • Ego the Living Planet reveals that he killed Star-Lord's mother by using his powers to give her a brain tumor. There is also a scene where we see thousands of skeletons that are revealed to be his dead children who were killed because he found them useless.
