Storyline

Jessica and her fiancé Evan just moved from the city into their dream home on a quiet suburban street. Soon after, Jessica catches her seemingly friendly new neighbor, Simon, in a strange lie and can't let her suspicions rest. The danger escalates when Simon lures her inside his home and imprisons Jessica in his secret bunker, meticulously decorated in the idealized style of the 1950's. Here she meets Robin, a woman who's been held captive by Simon for several years and brainwashed into living as his faithful companion - a fate that is now set for Jessica unless she can somehow find a way to escape from Simon's time-warped prison.

Robin Simmons: [Jessica is lying in bed away from the door, arms crossed over her stomach as Robin looks sympathetically] How're you feeling?
Jessica Crowder: Leave me alone
Robin Simmons: Sorry if you feel like I betrayed you, but you were going to destroy our home.
[Jessica scoffs and shifts in bed]
Jessica Crowder: Stop calling this a home!
Robin Simmons: [forceful, goes to sit on bed] You would've ended up like Megan if I hadn't stopped you.
[Jessica partially sits up to face Robin, cautious, her face tear-stained]
Jessica Crowder: Who's Megan?
Robin Simmons: [looking away] The girl who was here before ...

Tactful and Well Executed
10 September 2017 | by cmovies-99674See all my reviews

PROS: For starters, this movie knew exactly what it was and it didn't stray from that. There was nothing fancy, nothing creative, however, there was just enough to keep you engaged. The problem I find with horror movies today is that they try to pave their own path instead of making the path they already have more detailed. To further explain why I love this movie, is the fact that the acting was terrific. The whole idea of who the characters were supposed to be had just enough pizazz and just enough stability for you to like and then dislike some of them at the same time. The last thing that I liked was the plot. Everything that made up the movie had its own personality. I liked that KEPT WOMAN followed an idea and gradually grew from upon that idea.

CONS: The thing that I would say was most disappointing was the end portion of the movie. The climax of the movie, although very intense, was also quite predictable.
