Graduation Day Blues (2014)

**** (out of 4)

Excellent 11 minute interview with producer David Baughn who discusses his early career as well as his 1981 horror film GRADUATION DAY. Baughn starts off talking about how he ended up getting into the business as well as his early working days with Russ Meyer. He then moves onto how he got into producing after working to help sell the film HAUNTS. This leads to his meeting with Herb Freed and the making of GRADUATION DAY. This is certainly a terrific interview and I really wish it went on a lot longer because it was that entertaining. Baughn really does a great job at telling his stories but what's so fascinating is hearing him discuss how small movies worked back in the day and what it was like trying to get them made and into theaters. He talks about how crowded the horror market was back in the day and various deals that had to be made in order for the film to be seen including a double feature with John Carpenter's THE THING. If you're a fan of independent horror movies then this here is a must see.
