Stannis arrives at Winterfell. Tyrion runs Meereen as Daario and Jorah go after Daenerys. Jaime and Myrcella leave Dorne. Jon sends Sam and Gilly to Oldtown. Arya challenges the Many-Faced God. Cersei confesses her sins.
Stannis attacks Winterfell. Sansa and Theon find themselves on a difficult situation. Arya challenges the many face god. Daenerys is surrounded by acquaintances. Jaime and Myrcella leave Dorne. Cersei confesses. Sam goes to oldtown to become the new maester. Jon receives news about his uncle Benjen.
The leadership of Meereen in the novels runs a different course after Daenerys disappears with Drogon, as Hizdahr zo Loraq and Ser Barristan Selmy are still alive. After Daenerys disappears, Hizdahr declares himself King of Meereen as he had recently married Daenerys, but is shortly thereafter deposed and imprisoned by Ser Barristan, who believes Hizdahr collaborated with Daenerys' enemies the Sons of the Harpy and the Yunkai Wise Masters. Ser Barristan remains the Queen's Hand and rules in Daenerys' stead with a council that includes Grey Worm and Daenerys' loyal subordinates. Daario, Jorah, and Tyrion are not members of the council because Daario is being held hostage by the Yunkai, while Jorah and Tyrion have not met yet with Daenerys. See more »
The gunk on Cersei's body during the "walk of atonement" visibly changes between shots (from the right clavicle to right deltoid and back again, for example). The changes often occur between faraway and close-up shots, because the faraway shots are actually the body of Rebecca Van Cleave, with Lena Headey's face very obviously CGI'ed over hers, whereas the closeup shots are Headey. [after the battle is over, Ramsay walks among the remains of Stannis' army, finishing survivors]
[to his squire]
Looks like we're done here.
[Ramsay heads back to his horse, but then he hears an agonized groan. He turns back and sees an injured Baratheon soldier, who tries to crawl away. Smiling, Ramsay approaches the soldier]
Baratheon Soldier #1:
I surrender! I surrender!
And I accept your surrender.

Stannis Baratheon finds that his wife has committed suicide and Melisandre leaves the group. Then he marches to Winterfell, but his army is surprised by the Bolton's men. Meanwhile Theon helps Sansa and they try to flee from Winterfell. Arya disguises to kill Meryn Trant and Jaqen H'ghar tells that she is not ready yet. Daenerys is missing with Dragon and Daario and Jorah ride together to find her. Meanwhile she is surrounded by a group of riders. Myrcella is kissed by Ellaria before leaving Dome with Jaime. Cersei confesses her sins to the High Sparrow and is humiliated while returning to the castle. Sam asks Jon Snow to be the next maester at the Oldtown. Then Olly tells Jon that his uncle Benjen is alive and waiting for him on the yard and Jon has a surprise.
"Mother's Mercy" is a bloody and violent episode of Game of Thrones. Stannis sees his world falling apart after the murder of his own daughter. I look forward to see the fate of Melisandre when Davos discovers what she did to Shireen. Theon finally reacts and helps Sansa. The segment with Arya is boring and pointless. The segment with Daenerys is only reasonable. The fate of Myrcella was predictable after the kiss of Ellaria. The humiliation of Cersei is the best moment of this show, and Lena Headey has an amazing performance. I am looking forward to see her revenge. The betrayal of the Night Watch is the most impressive moment of this show. My vote is nine.
