Decent end to an iconic show
14 December 2019 | by KingslaaySee all my reviews

It can be very difficult to wrap up a successful and enduring show but I believe Mad Men does this well. Instead of going for the rushed feel good moments Mad Men delves deeper into their characters, in particular Don Draper. Some characters like Pete Campbell do have happy endings but they are set up in previous episodes. Don's life in this show has been a roller coaster. He's had a crisis or two before and always goes away for a while. As Roger Sterling told McCann 'he does that now and then'. But this last season shows the biggest crisis he has faced. News of Betty's cancer was one of the big drivers. As always Don goes through a rebirth, this one being the strongest as he is closer to accepting who he is.

The finale does well in showing that despite the end of this show we could easily picture life continuing for our characters. We can picture Don returning to work, Pete in his new job, Roger and Harry going about their business. The final moment with Don reveals this. He is always an Ad and Commercial man and dreams up a new idea for Coke. How fitting that a show about advertising ends with one. Nicely done. 8/10
