Shazam, Godzilla 2 and More Are Coming to ScreenX in 2019

Forget about IMAX, Warner Bros. is going all in on ScreenX. For those who aren't familiar, ScreenX is a premium theater format that immerses moviegoers with a massive 270-degree screen that expands the image to the side walls, which makes the viewer feel like they're actually in the movie. This is good news for some of the year's biggest blockbusters, such as Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Shazam, as they're set to be screened across the globe in the up-and-coming format.

Warner Bros. has struck a deal with Cj 4Dplex, the South Korean cinema technology company behind ScreenX, to bring six different movies to the format globally this year. So far, the titles announced include Shazam!, which drops on April 5. The horror movie The Curse of La Llorona, which arrives on April 19. And the highly-anticipated Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which is scheduled for May 31. The studio has yet

Regal Owner Cineworld Posts 7% Revenue Growth In 2018 Fueled By Strong U.S. Performance

  • Deadline
Cineworld, the world’s second largest theater group, has released partial results for 2018 with highlights including revenue growth of 7.2% on a pro-forma basis and a record 308M cinema-goers.

According to the conglomerate, which last year completed its $3.6B acquisition of Regal Entertainment, admissions increased by 2.6% compared with the prior year. The firm put the growth down to a strong film slate in the U.S., refurbishments and the roll-out of premium formats. There were healthy rises in revenues for box office, concessions and screen advertising.

U.S. revenue grew by 8.6%, in part driven by a record year for the box office. Movies such as Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Incredibles 2 were among key drivers.

UK & Ireland revenue grew by 3% (-0.6% on a constant currency basis) with revenue growth impacted by the strength of the comparable film slate in 2017, particularly Star Wars. The highest grossing films for the year

Detective Pikachu Posters Arrive, Secret Pokemon Villain Revealed?

Is Detective Pikachu going to feature a secret villain? That appears to be the case, assuming a new rumor floating around is to be believed. The first trailer for this first ever live-action Pokemon movie was released back in November and it was jam-packed with Pokemon from a variety of different eras. It gave fans a lot to chew on, but it didn't reveal much in the way of a villain. If this rumor has any truth to it, the studio is keeping the movie's bad guy under wraps for good reason.

Warning: potentially huge spoilers ahead for Detective Pikachu. Last chance to turn back. According to a new report, an anonymous source has confirmed that Mewtwo will indeed be the main villain in the movie. What's more, the report states that the movie will actually provide us with the legendary Pokemon's origin story, something that really hasn't been explored that much previously.

The Sopranos Prequel Movie Gets Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga

The Sopranos Prequel Movie Gets Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga
The Sopranos prequel, The Many Saints of Newark, just added Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga to its cast. The news comes after the 20th anniversary of the hit HBO show, which took place last week and helped renew interest in the series. Viewership on HBO Go and HBO Now was up 70% from where it was in 2018 and many attribute that bump to the 20th anniversary interviews that were released last week. Now, excitement is about to ramp up for the prequel, which is currently in the casting phase of development.

While Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga have joined the cast of the Sopranos prequel, it is unclear who they are playing. They are joining Alessandro Nivola, who stars as Dickie Moltisanti (Christopher's father). All other information about the prequel is being kept under wraps, but we know that it takes place in the era of the Newark riots in the 60s,

The Sopranos Prequel Adds The Walking Dead, Bates Motel Favorites

The Sopranos prequel movie is starting to take shape.

Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga are the latest additions to the cast of The Many Saints of Newark, reports Variety.

The movie will be skipping HBO entirely and will instead release in theaters.

No details have been revealed about who Bernthal and Farmiga will be playing. They join a cast that already includes Alessandro Nivola.

It's not uncommon for details to be scarce, especially when the project is likely still a long time away from releasing.

The movie will take place in the 1960s, and will feature the Newark riots.

It's unclear which characters from the series will show up, but it would be difficult to imagine a young Tony Soprano not stopping by for part of the action.

Thankfully, The Sopranos creator, David Chase, has been part of the creative process and co-wrote the script with Lawrence Konner.

Which Iconic Toho Monsters Will Return in Godzilla 3?

Which Iconic Toho Monsters Will Return in Godzilla 3?
Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty wants to include two more Toho monsters in a possible Godzilla 3. Dougherty recently finished the final cut of his upcoming project, and from all of the promotional material that we have seen, it looks truly epic. Godzilla is back with a slightly updated tail and feet, along with King Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra, who all look incredible. Dougherty and his team look like they have come up with a worthy follow up to Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla movie.

In a recent interview to promote Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Michael Dougherty revealed that he'd love to use Toho monsters Biollante and Gigan for a possible third installment. Dougherty is not attached to Godzilla 3 at this time, but it seems as if he's open to taking on a third movie, which will more than likely be revealed after the box office run for

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Director Reveals The Two Monsters He Wants In The Sequel

If Godzilla: King of the Monsters can do as well as the hype behind it suggests, then director Michael Dougherty has a few ideas for where the saga could go from here, sharing his suggestions for potential MonsterVerse newcomers in an interview with CinemaTodayJapan.

The Big G’s next big screen outing will see the arrival of King Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra – three colossal beasts that previous incarnations of Godzilla have crossed paths with in his Japanese films. And should the kaiju’s run under Legendary Pictures continue, Dougherty would like to see Biollante and Gigan step into the fray.

To break these down individually, Biollante is a plant-like creature that was created from the DNA of a human, a rose and Godzilla himself. The animal first appeared in the 1989 film Godzilla vs. Biollante, but hasn’t been seen on the big screen since, save for a stock footage cameo in 1994’s Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla.

New Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Photo Provides Best Look Yet At King Ghidorah

We’re just a few months away now from seeing the MonsterVerse’s Godzilla go up against some of his meanest-looking foes to date, the biggest and meanest of them all being King Ghidorah. And thanks to this new still from USA Today, we may have our best look yet at the Godzilla: King of the Monsters villain.

While the beast’s body has been obscured by the usual combination of darkness and rain that we’ve come to associate with the Big G’s next outing, all three of Ghidorah’s heads seem raring for a fight, and our money’s not on that skinny little aircraft that’s flying in his direction.

We’ve already seen Godzilla grapple a little with the three heads in the film’s most recent trailer, but you can bet there’s a lot more footage where that came from. While 2014’s Godzilla
