Almost Royal: Watch the Season Two Debut Now on BBC America

BBC America has released the second season premiere of the Almost Royal TV series, early, online. You can watch Almost Royal, season two, episode one, "Beauty," on the BBC America website, now. BBC America will air not air the episode until Monday, January 18, 2016, at 10:00pm Et/Pt.

In "Beauty," siblings Georgie (Ed Gamble) and Poppy (Amy Hoggart) Carlton have returned to the States to examine the art of beauty -- from a flawless blow-dry, to beautiful baby contests, and even a beauty pageant. Mario Lopez will field the Carltons' beauty questions, in the season two premiere of this comedy series.

BBC America has announced that they've ordered season two of Almost Royal, their fish-out-of-water comedy series.

New York - December 4, 2014 - BBC America has picked up a second season of its first original comedy series Almost Royal. The (8x30) second season is produced by Burning Bright Productions with Clive Tulloh (Eddie Izzard: Marathon Man, The Dame Edna Treatment, High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman) as executive producer and Séamus Murphy-Mitchell (Bug, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross) as series producer.

BBC America orders second season of Almost Royal

BBC America has commissioned a second series of Almost Royal.

The series follows young 'royals' Georgie and Poppy Carlton as they travel around the Us learning about the country's customs and teaching Americans about Brits.

Deadline reports Ed Gamble and Amy Hoggart will return as the pair who present themselves as the 57th and 58th in line to the British throne.

The show is broadcast on E4 in the UK and BBC America in the Us; the new series will feature eight episodes.

Gamble and Hoggart have revealed they watched Made in Chelsea as preparation for their roles as the posh brother and sister.

Made in Chelsea NYC launches with 520,000 on E4

Made in Chelsea: New York launched with over 500,000 viewers on Sunday night, according to overnight data.

Airing outside its usual Monday 10pm slot, the summer spinoff series opened with 520k (2.3%) at 9pm on E4, with an added 205k (1.2%) on +1. This is down from the series seven launch overnight ratings of 730k.

New E4 series Almost Royal intrigued 191k (1.1%) at 10pm (129k/1.3% on +1).

BBC One's The Village returned for its second series with 4.62m (20.7%) at 9pm, down from last year's premiere ratings of 6.35m.

Earlier, Antiques Roadshow appealed to 4.59m (23.6%) at 7pm, while Countryfile topped the ratings with 5.63m (25.4%) at 8pm. Match of the Day returned with 2.36m (16.8%) at 10.35pm.

On BBC Two, Tropic of Capricorn intrigued 1.17m (6.0%) at 7pm, followed by Dragons' Den with 2.19m (9.9%) at 8pm and James May's Cars of the People with 2.43m (10.9%) at 9pm.

TV On Tap: “True Blood” Begins Its Final Season, “Buffy” Vets Join the “Witches of East End” and Zachary Quinto Set for “Girls” Appearance


In an odd mix of news, AMC announced that it ordered a second season of Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul before a single episode aired. However, the series’ debut has been postponed to next year, when it will have The Walking Dead as a lead-in.

Zachary Quinto will make a guest appearance on Girls next season. According to TVLine, Quinto will appear in just a single episode.

Chelsea Handler has signed a deal with Netflix that includes a talk show and a comedy special. The talk show will launch in early 2016 but the deal is already being questioned. Vulture wonders how the topical humor of late night talk shows will mesh with Netflix’s bingewatching model.

The Witches of East End has booked a couple of Buffy alumni. James Marsters will play an old family friend while Bianca Lawson will appear as a mysterious woman.

BBC America’s ‘Almost Royal’ Taps YouTube Stars For A Web Companion

On June 21, BBC America will debut Almost Royal, a comedy series about two low-level British aristocrats who go on a tour of the United States. In advance of that debut date, BBC America has turned to the YouTube community for Almost Royal Goes to YouTube, a web companion that features eight different YouTubers. Almost Royal Goes to YouTube was filmed at YouTube Space La and lives on BBC America's YouTube channel. Each installment features a conversation between protagonists Poppy and Georgie Carlton (played by Amy Hoggart and Ed Gamble, respectively) and a specific YouTuber. In one episode, DJ Flula teaches the "royal" siblings how to construct a freestyle rap. Other YouTubers featured on Almost Royal Goes To YouTube include Camp Takota stars Grace Helbig, Mamrie Hart, and Hannah Hart.
