LIFE ON THE LINE is a riveting action thriller and family drama centered on Beau (John Travolta), his beloved niece Bailey (Kate Bosworth) and the hardworking men who risk their lives to work "on the line" and keep the electric grid running. These unsung heroes brave raging storms and dangerously dizzying heights in their dedication to keeping the populace safe. Toiling hundreds of feet in the air on wires carrying as much as 500,000 volts of electricity, tragedy is often inches away. Haunted by the electrocution death of his brother, Beau is devoted to Bailey and determined to see her go off to college and away from the life of linemen. Bailey has other plans, which include the strapping second-generation lineman Duncan (Devon Sawa), whom Beau despises. A deadly tempest is brewing and headed straight to their Texas town. Goofs

When the hospital loses power and the generator engages, the film shows this taking less than 1 second. In reality, the generator has to start, come up to speed, then the transfer switch has to transfer power from the power grid to the generator. This process takes 4 to 7 seconds in most situations, and hospitals are accustomed to this short delay. See more »

Carline: He won't talk about it but it really changed him. Sometimes I feel like he's not even here even when he is home. You know things aren't always as perfect as they seem.

Everyone else who made this movie have no idea about the technical aspects of the job as lineman
4 June 2016 | by Mar RokoySee all my reviews

Obviously, none of the film crew and none of the actors as well understand what they were making. This is obviously soooooo wrong. I mean, they should have researched more before making this movie. I am sure all linesmen and those who are in the power generation, distribution, and transmission industry laughed sooo much they died right after watching this movie. This is so horrible and insulting to those who are in the industry. This is my first movie review by the way. I just thought that I might be able to spare other people's time from watching this horrible movie especially those who understand how electricity is being generated, distributed, and transmitted.
