- In Marseille, France, a TV report announces that authorities are looking for an American in a murder -- a picture of Tony DiNozzo flashes across the screen.
Meanwhile, in the back of a crepe food cart, Tony incapacitates someone while apologizing. He gets out and a young debutante asks him what to do next . He goes with "run."
36 hours earlier Tony is called in to see Vance, who introduces Admiral Kendall. He asks Tony to go run a seminar on internet security in Marseille -- but really to get Kendall's daughter. His plane leaves in two hours.
Kendall explains his daughter used to be a good student but is now an international party girl. She was out partying with gun dealers and Iranian terrorists and her dad thinks she's in over her head. Vance makes it clear no one but Gibbs is supposed to know what he's really up to.
Downstairs, Tony sells his story to McGee. Duckie interrupts, addicted to a charades-like app.
Gibbs announces the body of the week, in Norfolk. Duckie reminds Tony to not tip more than 6%.
In Marseille, Tony examines his check and calls McGee for help with the tip math. McGee's at a crime scene with a body stuck in a septic ank.
Tony arrives at Marseille NCIS and finds a crime scene with five dead bodies instead. He's just a few steps inside the door when French police come in and arrest him.
Back at NCIS, Abby is trying to work up the nerve to climb inside the septic tank. The body was weighted down by rocks.
The French police call Gibbs and another agent shows up and order Tony released from custody. Tony has a careful conversation with Gibbs about the situation and promises to call him later when he can talk.
The French inspector shows Tony a picture of the admiral's daughter leaving the scene and he says he doesn't know her. They ask to examine his gun to make sure it hasn't recently been fired.
Back at NCIS, Vance wants Tony to focus on finding the admiral's daughter.
At a nightclub, Tony shows Amanda's picture around and finds her at the bar doing shots. She's snotty and dismissive until Tony tells her everyone in the NCIS office is dead. She crawled out of the window to get away from the NCIS agents taking her to another hotel.
Tony is primarily concerned with getting her somewhere safe, but she is worried about meeting with a boy named Amir, the son of an Iranian politician.
She's explaining things outside, when the French inspector pulls up wanting to taking Amanda in for questioning. Tony isn't inclined to let Amanda go with her, but the inspector pulls Tony's gun and shoots her fellow officer. Tony ducks out with Amanda.
Back in the NCIS morgue, Abby has matched the septic tank body to Zach Martin. He was tortured.
Gibbs expects Tony home on the next flight.
Back in Marseille, Tony wants to call NCIS but Amanda worries the French are tracking them through Tony's phone. She crushes it with her shoe -- and Tony notes he took the battery out hours go. Tony says they're going to rent a car and drive ot the NCIS satellite office in Rota, Spain.
Tony goes to the crepe cart to order Amanda some food when the news report featuring him shows up on the TV. Tony incapacitates the employee and decides renting a car won't work.
Instead, Amanda calls a friend with a party RV. She asks about Amir and learns he's with a girl on the way to Switzerland. Tony still wants to call Gibbs, but thinks it's too risky. He spies the Symbolese app on someone's phone.
Ellie and McGee go Zach Martin's office, where his secretary admits she's never met him, he does all of his business by phone. He doesn't have any actual clients.
Back at NCIS, Abby saw Zach's Georgetown mug and ran past yearbooks against facial recognition. She found out Zach Martin was really Zacharia Hassan, and he went to school with the admiral's daughter Amanda Kendall.
In the office, they've realized Tony didn't make his return flight. They've seen the French reports. Gibbs suggests they work the case to help Tony.
Palmer comes up with news from his app. He has two images that he's sure are from Tony, indicating autopsy gremlin, his name for Palmer. Then bus and road -- for Rota, Spain.
They send a message back.
Meanwhile, on the party bus, Tony gets the reply indicating agents will meet them at the border. He's about to read the second message when he smells smoke. They pull over for the fire and Tony drags Amanda away before the fire brigade arrive.
Back at NCIS, they got Tony's message about a dirty cop and are worried about an internal incident. Ellie and Tony tell Vance that Hassan had information on his laptop related to Amanda. He was a spy and had a message sent through a DOD server.
Vance and Gibbs meet with Kendall in interrogation --the encrypted message on Hassan's laptop was from Kendall's account. Hassan had classified intelligence documents.
Meanwhile in France, Tony and Amanda walk into a quiet restaurant. Amanda wants to go back to Marseille for her boyfriend, Amir. Tony leaves to go to the bathroom, then doubles back to intercept Amanda on her way out of the front door.
He dumps out her purse and finds a matchbook with missing matches. He knows she started the fire on the bus and wants to know why she's so desperate to get back to Marseille. Tony tells Amanda that Zacharia Hassan is dead.
He thinks the party girl routine is an act and she's a spy working for Amir and the Iranian government. She says he's half-right, Amir works for her and she's a member of the Defense Clandestine Service. Hassan was her hanlder. She says she turned Amir and he'd been giving her intel, including information recently on Iran's WMD program.
"It's 'Three Days of the Condor,' except I'm Faye Dunaway," Tony says.
Tony promises her he'll help her get Amir out of Marseille. Tony calls Gibbs from a payphone, asking him to get an NSA Alpha team to find Amir ASAP but he can't tell Gibbs why.
In the lab, Abby finds that Inspector Cheblis was listening in to Tony's call, as they expected. They sent Tony a message through Symbolese.
Amanda and Tony wait in a car, watching Cheblis. When she leaves, Amanda and Tony go inside an empty night club. They find Amir bloodied and battered with a woman named Lila. As they're taking him away, Cheblis returns and draws on Tony.
He asks who she's working for and Amanda's friend Lila turns on them. Lila grabs Amanda hostage.
Tony tells Lila that snipers have her in their sights. She thinks she's bluffing, but a tactical team comes in and approaches her. When Lila goes to fire on Tony, he shoots her.
Tony is surprised to see the tactical team, but is sure Gibbs was behind it.
Back at NCIS, Amanda is reunited with her dad, who is surprised and proud to learn of her covert work.
Tony thanks Gibbs for sending in Interpol.
Palmer walks through with a message on Symbolese from his wife that he doesn't understand --it's a bun and an oven.
