Revenge Done Cheap
shawnblackman6 December 2016
A military woman returns home after a terrible ordeal only to have her niece commit suicide. She later learns it was because her coked out boyfriend sold their personal sex tape to a website and people from school seen it. The aunt gets a job as a stripper and buys an Uzi all in the name of revenge.

This film had potential but it was hard to get past the stale acting. You sort of forget about reality and watch her neat and tidy revenge. Most of the violence are bullets to the head and knees.

The film is watchable and laughable as well but I would save watching this one unless you had absolutely nothing else to watch.

One of Those Movies that the Viewer Regrets Watching
claudio_carvalho7 October 2016
When the lesbian military Rachel Baldwin (Jessica Kabasinski) returns home, she is welcomed by her niece Jamie (Khila Freeman) that introduces her boyfriend Ryan (Hunter Wieczorek) to her. During the night, Jamie and Ryan have sex and he proposes to film their intercourse. Then Rick meets his dealer to buy cocaine, but he does not have money and offers the footage instead. The film is sold to a porn site and Jamie commits suicide. Now Rachel uses the alias Angel to revenge her beloved niece.

"Angel of Reckoning" is one of those low-budget movies that the viewer regrets watching. The curious title and the horror genre indicated in IMDb may make the user disregard the 3.2 rating expecting to see a decent movie. However the story of revenge (not horror), screenplay and the direction are terrible and everything is low quality and painful to watch: performances, fight choreography, cinematography, location, edition, dialogues. Why is necessary to show Rachel as lesbian? Jessica Kabasinski is not beautiful woman but at least is hot in her costumes.. If you see this film without pressing the fast- forward button, you may be considered a hero. My vote is three.

Want some more coke?
nogodnomasters1 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Rachel returns from Iraqistan? and hits on all stereotypes being PTSD, lesbian, and film vigilante avenging the suicide of her niece whose sex tape went on the Internet (This tape is just for us.) After seeing herself, she realized she couldn't act and spared us having to watch her on screen. Her nice coke head boyfriend needed the money and gave the tape to his dealer, who sold it to Billy (Jawn Williams). The only thing Rachel can do is to confront the boyfriend...no wait....she follows him and then the dealer to a bar and works as a stripper/waitress/dancer who does porno films. She buys a gun and we don't want to ruin this often told tale.

Writer/director Len Kabasinski starred his beautiful actress wife in this film, because she can't get work anywhere else. No seriously, she has only worked for him and Sheri Moon Zombie she ain't. He top billed porn star Jasmin St. Claire, soft core star Deborah Dutch (Deborah Dare), himself and not his wife with a story line about the seedy underground world, but never delivers on the goods. Jasmin stays clothed from neck to toe, making a cameo appearance as a gun dealer. Jessica does show a lot of skin, as does the other actresses. It is a tease. The acting wasn't good and the script has been done and by real actors. The opening volleyball scene was a laugh. Why even bother? His wife plays a boring game of volleyball attempted to be made look exciting with a metal music soundtrack and a jerk camera. Seriously Len? That is the best you got? Jessica Kabasinski in a micro string bikini is the only reason to watch the film. At no time does she have angel wings, although a dance number with the wings would have worked great.

1 F-word. No sex or nudity.

Lost Opportunity...
C.J.-421 September 2016
I have no real issue with low budget. In fact, given a great script and one room as a set with good direction and editing you can make a good film for under a thousand. Sadly, this film had none of those things and I was being generous giving it a rating of 2. Now, I rarely blame the actors as a bad director can easily manage to make the greats come across as talentless. The editing deserves special mention as they hadn't even bothered to cut sound correctly with some dialogue spoken at a distance from the microphone being used in closeup. Sadly, you really need to give this one a miss. Bad editing, a terrible script and brutal direction leaves nothing worthwhile in its wake.

Worse than a Bollywood movie
jrpage-4956517 November 2016
I started watching this movie and immediately went for the fast forward button.. I watched only with the hope of it getting better, but I had to deal with the reality that it wasn't going to. It has choppy frame changes that make Natural Born Killers look like a walk in the park, and a story line filled with dialogue that makes Sharknado look like an Oscar winning masterpiece. I began to have flashbacks of the movies that used to air late night on USA. If I wrote a spoiler here, it would save people from watching this glistening turd sprinkled with gun toting bimbos.

Definitely one of the worst atrocities ever committed to film since "Turkish Star Wars"

I'll never get that part of my life back. SMH

For Those On a Budget
bemyfriend-4018410 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Low budget femme fatale revenge flick. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Actually kind of exciting. The black cop was one of the better characters. Didn't like the inconclusive ending. The cop was a good cop, if there is such a thing. And good cops, if they exist, will follow the process. They won't dismiss or excuse vigilantes. I guess this one did. So, maybe the ending wasn't so inconclusive. Anyways, worth at least 5 stars. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site. Most of these ultra low budget indies are awful. This one was fairly good.

Indie vigilante thriller shot in Pennsylvania
Leofwine_draca27 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
ANGEL OF RECKONING is one of those ultra-cheap indie thrillers, this time shot on the streets of Pennysylvania. It's about a maladjusted young woman, grieving for the sudden loss of a family member, who decides to go gunning for revenge against those she holds responsible. The rest of the cast is populated by the usual scummy characters including pornographers and drug dealers and various criminal types. There are more resources here than in some indie films, with plenty of scene changes for example, and some titillation, but the usual problems involving bad acting and a general lack of suspense and cohesion.

Would be better with reckoning
Killa4216 August 2021
The first odd part of the movie was a "vet" got off a bus and no one greeted her. She walked to a forest where she found her family playing volleyball. Her family greeted her like she was just gone from a long overseas trip. She was in no way thanked for her service. Then the movie gets weirder. The vet's sister (who is also called her niece) lets her boyfriend film her while they have intercourse. The boyfriend, who is addicted to cocaine, sells the recording to a drug dealer. The younger sister (via magic) finds out that the recording was sold on the black market and takes her own life. The older "vet" sister decides to kill everyone involved with the video distribution. This was just building the plot of the story. Nothing was spoiled. It's hard to argue that a person taking their own life is someone else's fault. There's no revenge necessary because the sister killed herself. Who is this "vet" showing any reckoning to by killing people? The storyline makes no sense and before that, no one caring that this vet returned from serving. The story was odd.

There is a gun dealer who looks like a striper and in her scene she's torturing some random guy tied to a chair. Her story seemed more interesting than the actual plot.

Would I recommend this movie? If you don't mind a lack of plot and want to watch a pretty girl senselessly kill people because they are "bad" (who are arguably victims of circumstance) than have at it. Otherwise, this is probably not a movie for you.

Low budget exploitation trash
continuumx20 February 2023
You may be wondering why I am giving this an 8/10 rating when I called it low budget exploitation trash. That's my rating for fans of that sort of movie. This is made for people who like low budget exploitation trash.

This has everything you want in low budget exploitation trash. There's a ton of nudity. There's a ton of action scenes and flying blood. It's gratuitously sleazy. It's not a great movie or even a good one by normal standards but it's very entertaining. This may be the epitome of a Len Kabasinski movie. Low budget, cheesy, trashy, sleazy and entertaining as hell. If you like that kind of movie, this is great. If not, I wouldn't bother.

So appallingly bad it's brilliant
Pauliewalker521 August 2020
Ironically I have walked out on high budget films within 5 minutes. Within 5 minutes of this I could tell this was one of the most b rated of b films I have ever seen. Sorry actors, but I have a sofa than could act better than the entire cast. And yet, at the end of it I did not feel cheated, l laughed out loud throughout the entire film and ironically I'd probably watch it again. Brilliant. Keep up the good/dreadful work - I loved it.

Hardhitting revenge opus
Woodyanders6 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Tough and resourceful war veteran Rachel Baldwin (a solid and sympathetic performance by the beautiful Jessica Kabasinski) exacts a ferocious revenge on the assorted scumbag criminals who are in one way or another responsible for the death of her beloved niece Jamie (sweetly played by Khila Freeman).

This film marks a radical departure from writer/director Len Kabasinski's previous more down'n'dirty exploitation fare: It's a lot more gritty and serious in tone, with nice use of seedy practical locations, startling moments of brutal violence, and a colorful array of truly slimy and hateful villains. Moreover, the deliberate pacing, shell-shocked war veteran heroine, and firm grounding of the gripping premise in a believably sordid everyday reality brings to mind the grim 70's grindhouse gem "Rolling Thunder" while the absence of nudity shows considerable growth and maturity on Kabasinski's part as a filmmaker. This movie further benefits from sound acting by Frederick Williams as the shrewd Detective Miles Trufont, Donna Hamblin as ruthless crime kingpin Beverly, Jasmin St. Claire as vicious illegal arms dealer Smoothy, Mark Kosebucki as slimy drug pusher James, Jawn Gross as smarmy amateur porn peddler Billy Williams, Kirsten McCain as Jamie's grieving mother Carol, Lisa Neeld as Rachel's loyal lesbian lover Reagan, Tim O'Hearn as scuzzy thug Brick, and Deborah Dutch as worn-out aging stripper Bobbi. The sharp cinematography offers plenty of neat fades and dissolves. A real on the money little flick.
