Storyline

In Islamabad, Pakistan, low-level State Department bureaucrat Alex Talbott asks his driver Rafiq to take him to a local bazaar to score some weed. The two encounter a mass protest that turns violent, and end up fleeing their car and taking refuge in the house Rafiq shares with his parents and sister. In Washington, D.C., Secretary of State Walter Larson is fetched from a hotel tryst by his seen-it-all aide, Kendra Peterson, to attend an emergency White House meeting on the growing unrest in Pakistan. After learning that General Umair Zaman is paranoid and threatening the region with destruction, the president and the ultra-hawkish Secretary of Defense put a plan in motion to remove Pakistan's nuclear arsenal, against Walter's advice that such an operation is risky and reckless. The group soon discovers that Alex is their only source of hard information on the ground in Pakistan. Meanwhile, onboard an aircraft carrier in the region, ace pilot Zeke "Z-Pak" Tilson calls his ex-wife ...

Trivia

The President's phone conversation with the Prime Minister of Israel is a direct nod to a similar phone conversation between the U.S. President and the Soviet Premier in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964). See more »

Goofs

When Z-Pak is launching from the carrier the number of external fuel tanks changes every time they cut away from and then back to his F-18. It changes between 1, 3, and 5 (only 4 visible, it can be assumed both wings have 2). He appears to have an air-to-air missile on each wingtip, but no air-to-ground ordinance is visible in any shot, even though he is being sent to engage ground targets. See more »

That was Hilarious!!!
30 November 2015 | by soreal-bhadoriaSee all my reviews

What a pilot. This is one of the best pilot of recent comedy shows. The humor is quite subtle and watching again just makes it funnier. Acting is good and dialogues are also well written. I don't know what the hate is for, maybe the portrayal of Pakistan and other stuff. If solely considered as a TV show, this is hilarious.

Walter: Smells like a coup d'etat.

President: Let be who?

CIA Head:(apologetically)I can't tell you that president.

President: I am the president.

I love these kind of humor and if you do to, you are going to love this show.

Tim Robbins and jack Black are brilliant. And oh those two pilots are just amazing.

All in all I loved the pilot and if future episodes are like this than I am surely going to love this show.

And why does IMDb changes my review format and makes it a one big paragraph instead. There is something wrong here.
